All the delays and postponements... album is underwhelming in my opinion... actually his weakest in his catalogue and I actually fucked with YEEZUS and ye ... two of his most derided albums

Coming off a divorce, his failed presidential ambition and his alleged bipolar health issues, I personally think he should've gone all solo on this new joint: producing and rapping. The impact would have been more immense than with his collaborators. I get he's Kanye West and one of the biggest superstars on the planet with his multiple celebrity friends and whatnot... but most times less is more

He started the trend of having less tracks on an album (7 tracks on 4 albums in 2018, ya'll remember?) Now it's 20 something plus tracks with a lot of filler... album is better served as background music honestly

Only part that really touched me on this jawn was Hoover Jr's interlude on 'Jesus Lord' alongside a dope ass verse from Jay Electronica

KDII is still unmatched I guess for 2021

3/5

Finally finished. I was gonna write a lengthy review but the album long enough.

Guest and production made the album stellar. 0 misses imo. I'll be debating best feature for months. Shout out that island gyal OK, OK pt 2 gives me Nicki Monster vibes

Length and Ye vocals on tracks made the album meh. I'm also not a fan of the over reaching God/Jesus theme however I think its dope he has embraced his faith. If the nigga would have not remixed 4/5 tracks it would have trimmed the fat

Overall dope project with a lot of skips

Yes and Yes!
I had a convo with a buddy of mine about a week and some change ago and said the same shit.

If I had to fairly review this now that I've ran through the album a few times:

Sonically (and yes, I AM referring to that term, fuck you), we all know how adept Kanye was/is. Musically, most of this shit sounds beautiful, in its own ways. The biggest highlights from me lyrically were the guest spots. How he got The LOX, Griselda, and Jay Elect on this is still pretty impressive. Even some of the younger dudes like DaBaby, and Lil' Baby did they part.

The biggest criticism here is album cohesiveness. This thing gets scatterbrained around Remote Control, and pretty much becomes Jesus Is King, Pt. 2. Not that we can blame him: this album is about his greatest influence, his mom. This seemingly gets lost in all of the pseudo-Christianity. Also, there's about three tracks I could've done without.

Scores:

Lyricism (his own) - 6.5/10

Production - 10/10

Album Cohesiveness - 5.5/10

Replay Value - 8/10

Overall: 7.5/10

Final Thoughts: Obviously, this isn't as good as MBDTF or Late Registration, but the man still has talent. This album needed direction and focus, as many people have put on here already. If Ye can harness that, whatever's next for him will be back to young KANYE status, instead of Old YE shit. For now, I'll just look at this as a therapy album for Mr. West. Hopefully, this can help give him some of that closure in his life.

Favorite Tracks: Jail, Jail Pt. 2, Jesus Lord Pt 2, Hurricane

While I am hop dude for life. I'm into a lot of music outside of the boom bap lyrical genre so I'm not saying that anything with singing or auto-tune is automatically bad .I listen to commercial /mainstream music as well as Underground Music.

Overall I like a lot of songs on this album but I don't think it is the best material he could have made.

All of this goes in Cycles so if people turn to only singing there will be a generation after that who wants to not sing it in the same way how we came out of snap music and ended up with a lot of more lyrical artist
You confusing me saying this is gonna die with me saying new trends will happen

same way disco and rock died Hiphop will as well

Jail - I like the song 7/10

God Breathed - I like the up beat energy 7/10 (little 808s and heartbreak and My dark twisted Fantasy vibe)

Off The Grid - 6/10 (light skip) I can do without this song. I don’t care about about playboy carts & Fivo Foreign. Also, lmfao Adam ain’t a black man because he won’t share no rib rib rib WTF. He trying to do the NY new flow, and he wasn’t that bad on it. Probably fun to blast on a highway, but I ain’t fucking with it that much

Hurricane- 5/10 I’m not a WEEKND fan, not a Lil Baby fan. Nice beat but nah this ain’t for me (light skip)

Praise God - 4/10 NOOOOOOOO I will skip this! Mutha fucka I get it you outside and LETS GET RIGHT (Baby keem)

Jonah - 3/10 Nahhhhhhh (skip)

Ok Ok - 4/10 nahhh Also it sounds like Drake Flow a little bit (skip)

Junya - 7/10 I fuck with this song a lot maybe I just like the hmm hmm then a bar

Believe what I say - 9/10 THIS THE FUCKING KANYE IM FUCKING TALKING ABOUT!!! This is his flow, beat, I wish Lauren Hill was really on it. The stupid speech at the end was not needed

24 - 8/10 Take em to church Ye! I like this a lot

Remote Control - 5/10 (light skip) sometimes I like sometimes I don’t care…. Mostly don’t care

Moon - 4/10 SKIIIIPPPPPP

HEAVEN and Hell - 8/10 Yeah Yeah yeah I like this. This the type of Kanye I need.

DONDA - 6/10 (light skip)

Jesus Lord - 9/10 I’m always looking for this song since I heard snippets (Jay Electronica cool cool )!!!!

New Again - 9/10 I like this a lot too reminds me of Graduation a little bit

Tell the Vision - 6/10 R.I.P pop smoke (interlude??)

Lord I need You - 6/10 I kind of like

Pure Souls - 7/10 Kind of like (better without the feature to me)

Come To Life - 6/10 Kind of like a lot

No Child Left behind - 6/10 (sounds like an ending outro)

Jail Pt 2 - 6/10 I don’t really care for Da baby but he wasn’t bad at all. Da Baby and TI should do a song together if they have not

Ok ok Pt 2 - 5/10 don’t really care (light skip)

Junya Pt 2 - 7/10 I just fuck with this flow and song! I like pt 1 more

Jesus Lord Pt 2 - 9/10 LOX !!!!

Everything I put in color is all I needed for the album. The last Two could have just been the last two songs. Just combine part 1 and part 2 and make it one long song.

From 24 to 11
Then 11 to 9 so you don’t need a part 2 just combine it all as one song for Jesus lord and Junya
