What all of these list really point out is that the majority of rappers are overrated. Like how Andre 3000 just gets an automatic bid into the top 10 when he's never even been a solo artist. He's never even carried a whole album but niggas will throw him in the top 10 to look smart. Then you have niggas like LL Cool J and Ice Cube rarely ever sniff the top 10 on these list when they've had longer and more impactful runs than 95% of the rappers in the history of rap. Any list without Big, Jay, and Nas all in the top 5 at least is automatically flawed. I can see people not having Pac in the top 5 sometimes but that nigga is no lower than 7 period. Lol at people trying as hard as they can to lower Em. That white boy is a top 10 rapper of all time.
Then there's always new niggas like Kendrick and Cole who leap frog a whole entire generation of rappers and land in the top 5. Like it or not there is a consensus with these list. Biggie, Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, Lil Wayne are top 10 rappers by default. That's the general consensus. I believe that Cube and LL should b staples in the top 10. Them niggas literally check every single box. That leaves only 3 spots so the way I see it if you want to put a new nigga like Kendrick, Cole, Lupe etc in your top 10 that's cool but you better have those other 7. Then the last two spots can be for guys who have the resume. Guys like Ghostface, Scarface, Snoop, Busta, Common, Rakim.
So a top 10 list would look something like
1. Biggie
2. Jay-Z
3. Nas
4. 2 Pac
5. Eminem
6. Ice Cube
7. Lil Wayne
8. LL Cool J
9. Snoop Dogg
10. Common
That's a top 10 list where all 10 of them have legitimates claims to be top 10. Sure you could swap out one or two of them for some of the other guys I mentioned but there shouldn't be any argument for a list like that. It's solid as fuck and I can back it up.
