You can't sign a Jay E n expect radio singles. That album woulda been fine...bonnie n clyde might have had semi radio potential w a better chorus. Same for that. Some of those tracks were clearly not mixed or finished. I would have liked that to drop in 2012 or whatever.

I don't know why a major label would sign Jay Elec in the first place and not expect something like this. It's not like he was making commercially friendly music before he got signed, he dropped a 15 minute track rapping over the score from eternal sunshine with no drums as a mixtape. he wasn't releasing so far gone type of music.
 
Disappointed Jay-Z's "feature" on Road to Perdition was just a sample from the intro of success. It's a dope song too, could've been even doper.

My dumbass kept waiting for Jay to drop a verse....and I heard that song like 100 times...I'm like "hold up"..ok not now, now?....you let it breath plenty my guy, where the verse at? Hahahha

That album is very in line w his line of production prior to that. Dude has an unorthodox catalog. For him to come out n make a polished label friendly album woulda been blasphemous. He wasn't no young dude on the cup up like j.cole or Kendrick. He a different type of artist and that is what his core fanbase respects about the guy. I would say maybe some of those hooks coulda been out sourced to a jill Scott or Anthony Hamilton and that album is a good piece of work.
Btw for those who wondered why Jay elec seemed unmotivated at times in his last album w Jay. This might give perspective. Imagine your boss halting your own presentation that you worked hard on and being like "I'll only allow you to present it if I'm in half of it" 8 years later.

Yeah I can see why he fucked off to Europe with a rich ass girlfriend. I think he first tweeted the tracklist in 2012? so this has just been sitting in the vault for almost a decade
