On one hand it is commendable for a man to realize that he is not willing to stray from authoring his own destiny to engage in competition.

Hip Hop doesn't have to be competitive.

But at the same time, you can't call yourself the best and not be willing to compete and downplay other rappers.

He's been bragging about killing rappers on their own shit for years now and he finally got a chance to go test himself against someone of his caliber and ducked it.

He probably realized that he don't want to actually be the best, but himself. He probably realized the step required is to compete and downplay someone he admires.

Friendly competition is a myth. There's nothing friendly about trying to stop someone from achieving their goal.

Kendrick obviously has no problem with being the best. But Drake and J. Cole not built like that, most people aren't.
