I never would have thought it after the latest iteration of the movies. I never really even gave much thought to the ITs origins or seeing what happened in Derry in prior years. I’m glad they’re doing it though because they’ve really opened up this world by having people other than a group of kids knowing about it.
Would be dope if someday Stephen King tied all of this together. Say there were a few aliens that crash landed to earth and each had a certain evil power that caused the events in the movies.

This show is all new material and not in the books. The below is just some info about the Stephen King universe.
Im a Stephen King book reader. Most of his stories have a connection and are part of the same universe. Many take place in Maine. Pennywise is a cosmic entity that is from the Macroverse.
The Macroverse has a bunch of monsters. If you ever seen The Mist, they tore a hole in that universe and the monsters came flooding out.
The dark tower books, not that trash movie, tied a lot of his work together. The shinning, the mist, Salem lot, the stand, and many others.
Most of his books will make references to his other stories.
Pennywise put the whole town in a sort of hypnosis that only affects the adults. That's why many of the adults are absent minded about pennywise. He did the same in the movies. If you go back to the movies, when the kids left town, they lost their memory until they returned. In this new show, my theory is that the black family and maybe some others are not affected. I think pennywise are gonna use the town to get rid of those adults that are not affected by the hypnosis.
The book goes into the turtle, the creator of the multiverse. The turtle and pennywise exchanged words. The movies didnt get into that part, probably because it opens the door of having to explain.
