every day we hear about people saying we need gun control but the concept of “gun control” has always had racist and classist undertones. the first attempt at “gun control” was keeping weapons out of the hands of newly freed africans.
now it seems to be an attempt to keep it out of the hands of the poor and disenfranchised by making it extremely hard to purchase guns under a new licensure sys
america has a crime problem. a prison problem. and a gun violence problem. agreed? but what does gun control look like in a country that has a deep relationship with white supremacist militarism and imperialism?
and who will ultimately be harmed in the process?
