I remember back in the day Puff and JD was asked to take a sample and make a song on MTV. JD made a beat and everything and Puff brought the Hitmen and then he added a sample over the beat.

Perfect example of beat maker and producer
 
Puff depended too much on a production team for me to consider that one

He did his thing in the 90s - not soo much in the 2000s
 
It's not even that niggas don't get the difference between a beatmaker and a producer , it's also that niggas don't know and/or care about the history of hiphop/music and how things became to be the way they are.


There's producers that started waves, that created certain styles and then there's niggas like Puff who changed entire genres.


Listen to hiphop in 93 with black moon, jeru and shit and then listen to it after Puff came the next year. You're not getting "if i ruled the world" without Puff, you're not getting "you're all i need" without puff.

Same goes for RnB. There was no rnb singers rapping over hard ass hiphop beats. You're not getting "killing me softly" without puff. You're not getting that MJB, Jodeci shit, etc.


There's certain niggas that changed music and yall wanna talk about if the nigga turned the knob for the treble or not lol

Puff is not a Producer in how we think about it. Producer=Beatmaker...we know this

An Exec Producer/A&R is what Puff is.

I will never say producer = beatmaker , yall can do that.


There's more to a song than the beat and with that said Puff was the one who orchestrated how the beats sounded too.

It is what is.

But you know, I know, everybody know this whole ranking is about the beats

Sidenote: If I knew how big that Nore gif was gonna be I would've watermarked it lol I be seeing that gif on mad sites.

And I know that's mine cuz he's said "u gotta relax" a million times on podcasts and interviews and even multiple times in that interview but the only gif you see with him saying it is in that moment.
