FEATURED How Can ABW Improve As A Site?

I don't know if it's possible but it'd be cool if you could add multiple prefixes to the threads. Like in reel talk there's the streaming services and 'coming soon' and 'out now'. It'd be nice if you could have something like 'amazon' 'coming soon' both

Also would be cool if the sports section utilized the prefixes. MNF, SNF, TNF, etc.

Maybe a What's Trending section in the What's new. Though I guess that's usually the featured threads

Did bluesky ever get the embedding fixed?

Though I actually like the Rain theme.. variety is always nice. Though I like the dark themes because it's easier on the eyes to check the site at night

Maybe different reactions

Is there anything tech wise that'd help with loading pages that have many embedded links that could slow the browser down? That's always good

We need to be shared in spaces that the most possible eyes will see us. Folks need to share this site in every social aspect of the Internet they venture into.

Cuz that's the real problem. Niggaz don't feel comfortable openly talking about the subculture of Internet forums to people they are afraid will judge them.

Agree with this. Not necessarily the judging part cause I don’t really care what people think, but people that aren’t hip to this shit won’t get it.

I got into these boards in my late 20’s. Nobody in their 40’s want to pick this shit up cold. Which is why if it’s going to get fresh you need new blood, either younger people or expats from other boards.

I'll add new prefixes to the Sports and Reel Talk sections today.

Once I'm finished adding new features to the Candy Shop site, I'll buy the new license i need for ABW and add Bluesky and other new features. All this shit costs money lol but I'll handle it soon.


There's currently 3 themes on ABW. 2 dark mode ( rain, ablackweb aka dark) and 1 light mode (UI.X)

I agree, the bulk of the responsibility falls on me. I'll be putting money into advertising ABW more soon.


With that said tho, I was a mod on the IC for years and never got a penny or a thank you card. I can debate hiphop all day, so I didn't look at being a mod as a job. But I understand why someone would feel that way.


I said it before on here tho, I do plan on paying the mods in the near future but building and running these platforms cost more money than yall realize. I need to add a superchat feature lol

I incorrectly assumed some were just features you had to toggle on. Don't wanna kill the bank. I was just listing some things lol

I wouldn't say it falls on you. You are probably the most visible site owner I've ever seen

I think the issue falls on the community and people need to just admit they may not want certain parts of their lives to intersect

I can name maybe 5 people total that have actually invited people to this site. Did those people stick around? No, but efforts were made.

Everyone else "ate" off their efforts. Same few people make threads, everyone else eats off the efforts. There are a ton of threads I avoid mainly cause I'm not the target member but when I remember to make threads, they are centered around things that interest me and I think from reading other people's posts over the years, I can predict who may or may not participate

Most if not all the features used here are plugins by xenforo. A few might be free but the cool shit might be behind a paywall. I think most of them are one time costs but others night be subscription based.

A few members of the xenforo community also make plugins for use from the ground up based on feedback they get from community members of boards they own, moderate or frequent

The prefixes are a plug-in for example

The expensive route would be to just pay a popular influence that does podcasts to mention the site

Reel talk can reach many different views so that'd be welcoming

Sports section could as well

Record store mentions rock and rnb but it's heavily hiphop. So you limit the audence

News section is heavily one sided

Cool table just asks life questions which could probably interest people though a lot of it could be placed in the lifestyle and fashion section

Maybe they catered to young (how? I have no clue) whereas with this site, during the huge influx from the IC majority of the posters were already in their mid 30s

Fast forward 8 years these niggas is 40-45

Maybe advertise this place in younger spaces like Joe Budden Reddit, x, bluesky, YouTube and places where younger congregate

There needs to be a bigger focus on streamers as well
