Gendry didn't sit on the throne for the same reasons that Rhaenyra's kids won't. They are bastards and the realm will not accept them.

So now on top of the Lords accepting a woman a their leader you are also asking them to accept that same woman's BASTARD sons to lead them as well? That's not going to fucking happen. Rhaenyra took too long to get in the game. She was too busy sulking to make smart moves. She should have a legitimate heir by now. She went on a years long tour looking for someone to wed. She turned down every single candidate. Just think. She literally could've wed the Lannisters, had a son, and still did whatever the fuck she wanted to do just like Daemon told her but she wanted everything to be her way.

Now that she's older she wants a redo and she wants to insert herself into the fold but she's made too many mistakes.

And niggas are really calling Alicent a hater for literally pointing all of this out to Rhaenyra. Shit, if anything Alicent was pushing for Rhaenyra to wed and have a legitimate heir so that all Alicent would have to do is just be a mother to her kids but Rhaenyra was too stupid and she didn't know how to play the game and now she's crying dire wolf.

It is when you already have the disadvantage of being a woman when no woman has ever sat on the Iron Throne.

What's so hard to understand here? It's hard enough to get people to buy in to a woman sitting on the throne in the first place. Why complicate things even further by also having bastard kids?
