This is no where near up for debate. The Wire is the GOAT TV series. There isn't even a close second.

Boardwalk Empire is a great show though. Just not on the level of The Wire.

You can watch the entire series of The Wire ten times and find new things you like about it or details you previously didn't notice. The Wire has layers and depth that no other show has come close to.

That’s me wanting other great shows to get a chance. And seasons 2 and 5 dropped quality wise so how is it the GOAT show anyways?

Season two may actually be the best season. The show added to it's depth by exploring the other side of the tracks. Season two gave you more insight into what happens when we really start following the money trail and how drug dealers were really the least of the issues.

Season five... Even more layers exposed since we get the media perspective.

Season 2 of The Wire is almost unwatchable

Fuck no!!

Season 2 was really good. I understand a lot of folks didn’t like that it didn’t focus as much on the towers and Barksdale’s crew, but it was awesome how they showed how the drugs got into the country. It was also great how they showed that it wasn’t just black and brown people involved in the whole ordeal.

It was a really good season that honestly was needed to shift the point of view of the show and set itself apart from a lot of crime shows.
