I would be among that 14%.

The article also says 15% of Americans have listened to music on a cassette (I did yesterday), and have watched a movie on VHS in the last year (also me, Game of Death).

I play retro games on emulators

So do I, but recently I've been wanting to get off the PC and play on the real deal. Might be picking up an NES or TG16 soon and I'll prolly grab an SNES and OG PSX if I can find the right one. My younger sister just told me she's got an NES with the OG gray Zapper in storage.

I expect Microsoft to go all in on game pass and have you play it on any device like Netflix

I made a thread all about gear for emulation…mainly portable.

And as you know, batteries on cartridges die over time and retro gaming can get real expensive really fast….

I've been into emulation since the 90's. Touched on it in the Retro Gaming thread.

you... don't... know what MAME is???

Is that even possible in 2023???

I'm fuckin with ya. MAME stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.

It's an emulator that more or less emulates old arcade game hardware. At this point, it runs literally thousands of arcade games and their variants. Neo Geo, Capcom CPS/CPS2/CPS3, Nearly all of the Sega systems (System 1/2/16/24/32, Naomi, Model 1, 2, and 3), Namco shits (System 10, 11, 22, etc) and pretty much every single arcade game from Pong through many current games.

MAME is what I used to make these videos:

I typically use MAME UI 64 as a front end for MAME on my PC. Just makes it easier to navigate and it can also spit out wav files and video of whatever you're playing.

I've been running emulators since I had a 486. NESTicle, SNES9x, ZSnes, REM, System16 Emulator, Stella, WinUAE... All kinda shit back in them days.

I have a RasPi3 that I've run RetroPie on. Had it connected to my desk TV for the longest and had it hooked up to the TV in the living room at one point. Right now it's back to running the regular Linux OS and it's connected to the TV in my bedroom.

Bruh... I want another Vectrex, Moms gave mine away when I went off to college. Right now them muhfuckas are like $500 and I still gotta get the games for it. I also want another Sega CD 2 to go with my Genesis, but even those things are expensive now. It's crazy 'cause pre-pandemic them shits was super cheap.
