Foreigners in America for the World Cup reacting to American stuff for the first time

French - crepes
Italian - pizza, Gelato, lasagna., Alfredo, stromboli
Crepes and gelato are basic and not even considered entrees.

The rest you’re talking about Americanized versions.

Alfredo sauce in Italy doesn’t even have cream or garlic. It’s just butter, Parmesan, and pasta water lol.

Stromboli was invented in the US by Italian Americans in the 50’s. It’s not even an authentic Italian dish.

You sound like a picky eater, lol. Just like my uncle and aunt. They dont eat anything outside of what they know. Chicken wings, salmon, and hamburgers.

I realized I havent had a lot of French food but the food looks good. Especially their seafood dishes. Im gonna have to try a spot here some day.

But Italian food has a lot more. Mad pasta and seafood options. My folks enjoyed their food when they were over there. They do Mediterranean dishes. I have been to Greece and they have similar food, since they do Mediterranean dishes as well. If i enjoyed their food, im sure i would enjoy italy.

I’ve never seen a plate of European food where I thought “damn that look good as fuck!”. People always talk about French and Italian cuisine but that shit be looking nasty as fuck too.

We need to stop letting the world get away with gaslighting us over that mediocre shit.

If we're being fair. A lot of American food is food from other places (including Europe) with an American (mostly because of African American influence) glowup. So, they have good foundations with a lot of their food. They just needed us to get it over the finish line to the realm of being something that's actually good.

That said, Europe does have some genuinely good cuisine. You can't really use the UK as the measuring stick. I'm pretty sure they had a reputation for bland and uninspired food since before U.S. food came into the discussion.

Man, with all these people visiting buc-ees, I kind of want to try it. Shit is just mad far. There is one in Virginia. 2h30m from me. Only time I go out that way is when I go to Shenandoah to camp or hike. Think I will make a day trip out of it.

I feel you. I like good beef jerky and love brisket. I want to see what they're working with. I didn't know one was in VA though.

We don't have Buc-ees out this way but we just got a Sheetz in the city a couple of months ago. I haven't had the food there just yet but I'm planning on it soon, maybe this weekend if the line isn't too bad.

I feel the foreigners amazement with Costco though. When i was younger those wholesale stores always struck me as stupid and unnecessary. Since I got married and had kids, Costco is the best store in the world to me. It's basically a brick and mortar Amazon.

Used to be this spot called The Warehouse Club on 8 mile near I-75 back inna day. Used to hate going in there with the folks for basically the same reason but they kept us stocked up like crazy shopping there. These days I gotta severely limit myself anytime we hit up Sams Club 'cause I know I'mma buy some crazy shit 'cause it's there in bulk.

lol You feel me? That store is a trap. I go in Costco like I'm gonna get these two things and spend $40 and always come out there spending $200+.
