My son played high level soccer growing up. Until they fix the US Youth Development programs and/or attract top talent from other sports the US will continue to get knocked out.

The development program is stupid expensive which shuts out a lot of players and mediocre white kids get promoted cause the family has influence in the program.

Plus they focus on speed and strength over touch. At least when my son was coming up a few years ago.

You can’t tell me we don’t have athletes that could dominate soccer if they actually played the game.

Thats mad what are the costs??? They dont charge parents for their kids taking part do they???

Its crazy because everywhere else soccer is the ultimate lower/working class sport world wide... Which is why its so popular, all you need is aa ball (or something resembling it) and two jumpers, sticks or rocks etc to make a goal...

My boys kid is part of Chelsea's academy and it whilst its free for the most part, he spends alot of money on travel and it takes up a ton the families hours and life in general... And the chances or his kid even becoming a pro are very, very slim... Still the 'program' is free...

Shit my neighbor tells me her son is good enough to be scouted by Man Utd s academy they been in contact

She tells me they spends thousands of dollars annually driving him up and down the Midwest for soccer games camps and etc
