Daniel Craig won't be handing on his massive fortune to his children, he's said, and would rather give it all away.

Speaking to Saga magazine, the Bond star said that he finds the idea of inheritance 'distasteful'.

“My philosophy is to get rid of it or give it away before you go,” he said.

“I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation.”

Craig has one child with his actress wife Rachel Weisz, born in 2018, and another, Ella, from his previous marriage.

Craig is far from the first celebrity to extol the virtues of letting their children find their own financial way in the world rather than relying on their wealthy parents.

Elton John and David Furnish said in 2016 that they would be giving the bulk of their £200 million fortune to charity rather than their sons.

“Of course I want to leave my boys in a very sound financial state, but it’s terrible to give kids a silver spoon. It ruins their life,” he said.

“Listen, the boys live the most incredible lives, they’re not normal kids, and I’m not pretending they are. But you have to have some semblance of normality, some respect for money, some respect for work.”

Similarly, Simon Cowell, worth in the region of £225 million, told the Mirror back in 2013: “I’m going to leave my money to somebody. A charity, probably — kids and dogs. I don’t believe in passing on from one generation to another.

“Your legacy has to be that hopefully you gave enough people an opportunity, so that they could do well, and you gave them your time, taught them what you know.”

Craig is next up in his final Bond movie, No Time To Die, originally scheduled for release in April, but now delayed until November.

I'd do the exact same shit.

After the years of livin' in the best areas and goin' to the best schools, of access to any specialist trainin' in whatever field they want and of connections to big shots in those fields you shouldn't need your dad to give you 100m as well.

They all prolly gonna inherit stocks and property and other such wealth**. A millie each for them to start businesses and shit should be mooooore than enough.

but but but

ahhh.

this aint about me.

you right bruh
i agree

His money so as long as its legal its fair, personally I would leave some for my kids, maybe set it up so they cant access it until they are in their 30's or something so that they learn the valvue of a dollar

Your parents don't owe you shit, when you become an adult. Not enough people realize that. He said he wanted to leave his kids in a 'very sound financial state'. That likely means teaching them financial literacy, paying for their education and whatever else while they are in school...and maybe even buying or helping buy their first house.

If that nigga don't wanna then leave his kids millions of dollars on top of that, and wants to give that shit away to other people who are more in need, that's his decision. Nothing foul about it.

It wouldn't be foul even if he DIDN'T leave his kids in 'a very sound financial state'.

I mean I understand not leaving everything to them but most of my stuff would. Generational wealth an shit.

Jackie Chan doing the same shit....I can respect it these kids have had all the advantages in life if they do what they are posed to do they should excel in life without depending on an inheritance

If I has $100M I wouldn't leave it to my kids in a lump sum. I'd set up a trust so they get, say, $1,000 per week with 5% simple interest.

That's $52,000 per year. They'll never be broke or homeless. They can always check into a hotel. And they can always afford a meal at a pizza shop or McDonalds.

And they'd still have enough money to drink and smoke, but they can't blow it all at once.

I think that's fair.

And then you could give away the rest to charity, or put it in an escrow account with the stipulation that if the child gets his bachelor's degree (or Masters, or PhD, MBA, JD, etc.) then the trust will go up from 1k per week to, say, 2k per week, or 3k per week.

But the worst thing you can do is leave a kid with no education $100m. He'll spend it in a few months and be broke for the rest of his life.

I thought the whole point was putting your kids in best position possible. All the silver spoon talk is bullshit. If his kids turn out shitty because of wealth he needs to look himself in the mirror. His kids never asked to be here nor who their parents were. Its funny to me when I see parents talking like their kids should be thankful for what they have. Nah, that's what they are owed. Take responsibility.

How you mad at a person for NOT just giving you millions of dollars? Lol. Sounds like a bad case of entitlement to me.

I's not entitlement. Those are his kids. He's basically saying giving his kids money will ruin them. Not raising his kids right is what will ruin them.He owes HIS kids the best life possible.

If he wan'ts to give some of his money away to charities and those in need that's cool; but "silver spoon" talk is nonsense.

I don’t think that’s what’s being said tho. We all agree to leave our kids something tho. And I don’t think just cause you inherited money you’re gonna be a dick head

How much much does his kids need to have to have the best life possible tho?

For some, having too much money can make life worse. I agree he needs to do his part in raising them but I think if he does they gonna appreciate having a nest egg AND still finding they own source of income and wealth
