Emails Contradict Diamond & Silk’s Repeated Claims That Facebook Never Contacted Them

https://www.mediaite.com/online/ema...ed-claims-that-facebook-never-contacted-them/

Social media vloggers Diamond and Silk jumped back into the spotlight this week during Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg‘s congressional hearings on user data and privacy.

The sister duo, otherwise known as Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, are fervent supporters of President Donald Trump, and had their Facebook page shut down after being told its content was “unsafe for the community.” However, Zuckerberg called that decision “an enforcement error” during his testimony Wednesday, stating that his company had already contacted the two to rectify the issue.

However, Diamond and Silk have denied that, claiming the last time they heard from Facebook was when their content was taken down. Leaked emails prove that to be false.

Conservative blogger Erick Erickson published the emails from Facebook’s policy manager Neil Potts to Hardaway and Richardson, which detailed why the mishap occurred and what would be done to ensure it would not be repeated. The veracity of the emails was confirmed by The Daily Beast, according to the publication.

“First off, we want to apologize for having mishandled communications with you over the last six months,” Potts’ initial email read. “I can only imagine how frustrating this process has been for you. Moreover, the note you received last week was inaccurate and not reflective of the way we communicate with our community and the people who run Pages on our platform.”

Potts then writes that the purpose of his communication is “to explain what happened to your Page and identify specific steps to prevent a recurrence of these issues moving forward.” He then defined the issue as relating purely to policy changes regarding monetization and regulation of clickbait and page views, implying the duo’s page was not closed for reasons of political bias. Potts also assured them that they could reach out to Facebook as a resource if any problems came up in the future.

After Diamond and Silk continued to publicly insist they hadn’t been contacted, even posting the claim on Twitter, Facebook again reached out to them, keeping open the line of communication. The company also cited a Facebook comment it left for them.

Diamond and Silk Now Tell Fox News That Facebook Reached Out to Them Via Twitter

Diamond and Silk, two vloggers who became famous off the 2016 election thanks to President Donald Trump and Fox News, took to the conservative network on Thursday to walk back claims they made earlier this week that Facebook hadn’t contacted them to resolve an ongoing issue in which their fan page was deemed “unsafe to the community.”

Facebook “reached out via Twitter,” the two women claimed on Your World with Neil Cavuto Thursday. “They told us that they had been trying to get in contact with us.”

“We’ve been in interviews all day, but we will be reaching back out to them,” they added.

The issue with the Diamond and Silk fan page was a central point of focus for Republicans during Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s two-day testimony in front of Congress on user data and privacy concerns. Several lawmakers grilled Zuckerberg on whether the platform had a political bias toward conservative content creators, to which the founder of the site vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

“Our team made an enforcement error,” he explained. “We have already gotten in touch with [Diamond and Silk] to reverse it.”

The company confirmed in a statement to the Washington Post earlier this week it had “communicated directly with Diamond and Silk about this issue.”

Still, the two vloggers have been telling right-wing publications that they hadn’t heard from Facebook all week long. The two told Fox News’ The Ingraham Angleand the Daily Caller on Wednesday they hadn’t receiving anything from the site.

“No one has been in communication with Diamond and Silk,” they said Wednesday.

The night before making those claims on Fox News and online, Facebook representatives tried calling Diamond and Silk on their personal phone numbers, the Daily Beast reported.

Now, the two say the issue isn’t that Facebook didn’t attempt to resolve the matter — but that’s its continuing to impact their engagement on the social media platform.

“Algorithms were put in place where our fans and followers that liked our page didn’t receive notifications,” they said on Thursday. “We’re not terrorists … get them algorithms off of conservative page!”

Diamond And Silk Complain That One of Their Private Facebook Posts is Not Getting Views

Over the past week, pro-Trump vloggers and frequent Fox News guests Diamond and Silk have been in the news as they’ve accused Facebook of discriminating against them due to their conservative commentary. With Republican lawmakers and conservative media taking up their case in recent days, it would appear that Diamond and Silk have perhaps been misleading the public over the whole controversy.

Erick Erickson and The Daily Beast have already reported that the Trump-loving duo wasn’t telling the truth earlier this week when they claimed Facebook didn’t contact them over their complaints as employees of the social media platform sent D&S multiple emails and called their personal phone. It now seems that the media personalities are trying to pass off a private Facebook post as proof that they aren’t getting sufficient engagement on their 1.4 million-follower strong Facebook page.

Starting last night and continuing on through today, the pair has sent out screenshots of a Facebook post they made in which they call on others to share their stories about social media censorship, claiming that Facebook’s algorithms have caused only a handful of people to see the post.

The thing is, all one has to do is actually go to Diamond and Silk’s page and see that the post they are whining about isn’t publicly available. In fact, the appearance of the “Boost Unavailable” button in the screenshot is likely a dead giveaway. Scroll down, and you don’t see it anywhere on the page. Meanwhile, the posts they recently published claiming that post had been censored have been shared thousands of times and received tens of thousands of reactions.

Did Diamond And Silk Get Caught Lying Under Oath On Trump Campaign Payments?

After being busted for not disclosing they were paid $1,274.94 for “field consulting” work by the Trump campaign under oath during the House Judiciary Committee hearing, Diamond and Silk then claimed it was for travel reimbursement.

Rep. Jackson Lee really laid the groundwork for this meltdown, getting them on record about never being paid.

The internet duo of Trump supporters, who appear on Fox News regularly first used the term fake news while Rep. Jeffries started questioning them even though he used actual FEC filings and they then said it was all a big mistake and was for a reimbursement.

I'm sorry, having the Trump people pay for your airfare is a payment, ladies.

The duo freaked out at the Congressman from NY as he tried to make sense of Trump and their relationship saying they should be able to profit from their platform.

Then Rochelle Richardson (Silk) got frosted and said, "He urged us to monetize our platform and there's nothing wrong with that. As you as an African American are not going to make us feel guilty because we're going to get out here and take advantage of these platforms and monetize just like everybody else do."

Then she got racial saying, "I don't see you walking a white person saying oh you shouldn't be monetizing.. So why are you as an African-American make it seem like we're doing wrong with us monetizing our platform."

Now they face perjury charges while trying to monetize the nonsense that they've been targeted by Facebook like all conservatives have been.

Rep. Steve King Cites Conspiracy Blog Gateway Pundit During Bizarre Diamond and Silk Hearing

During a bizarre Diamond and Silk Congressional hearing that at one point reportedly devolved into giggles from the Members of Congress, Rep. Steve King entered the posts of far-right blogger and rampant conspiracy theorist Jim Hoft into the Congressional record.

“How is this real life?” CNN’s Oliver Darcy asked on Twitter just minutes before reporting that “Jim Hoft’s Gateway Pundit articles are being submitted into the Congressional records.”

Diamond and Silk Appear on Fox & Friends After Wild Hearing: ‘We’ve Never Been Paid by the Trump Campaign’

Diamond and Silk appeared on Fox & Friends Friday, the morning after the two pro-Trump vloggers testified under oath before a Congress and denied they had ever been paid by the Trump campaign.

The duo, real names Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, were challenged by House members on their denials, as FEC campaign filings showed they did receive money from the campaign. As Philip Bump of the Washington Post reported, the situation is complicated.

Appearing on Fox & Friends, Diamond and Silk declared: “We’ve never been paid by the Trump campaign.”

They explained they had been reimbursed for flights to a campaign event in Ohio during the 2016 election, despite the FEC filing listing the payments as “consulting.”

The duo then called on the “fake news” to “retract all of their lies.”

Diamond and Silk appeared before the House committee to raise their claims that Facebook censored their account because of their conservative views, a claim Facebook denies.

The pair then embarked on a rant thanking the “white Republicans” in Congress and declaring their escape from the “Democrat plantation”:

We are very thankful to the white Republicans that allowed us a seat at the table to speak our truth about what’s going on, unlike the black men. And the reason why I say that is because we have been on the Democrat plantation. We know what it’s like over there. They are the ones that condition black people’s minds to make us think that white Republicans don’t want us to work, don’t want us to have any money in our pocket, but it was a black man that was concerned about how much money Diamond and Silk was making and was appalled about us making money legally.”

When hailing the “white Republicans” who heard them out, Diamond and Silk could be referring to Rep. Steve King, an ethno-nationalist who somehow still serves in Congress, and entered Gateway Pundit blog posts into the official record during the hearing.

Get these Bebop & Rocksteady muhfuckin broads outta here. They literally got laughed out of Congress hearings.
