The trailer with a Doja Cat song is stupid as fuck. Read the room nigga lol.
This film was co-signed by the estate, so no you ain't seeing him smash a teenager, same way you ain't seeing Denise Gordy 15 y/o ass in no Marvin Gaye biopic so let's let that sleeping dog lie eh?
Only reason I'm willing to give this shit a look is because it's Baz Luhrmann and reviews say it does acknowledge both his black influences and the cynical racism behind the people who marketed him.
The funny shit, older White people and the White media establishment hated Elvis because he performed Black music. They thought it was vulgar and unsophisticated unlike the White washed shit they listened.
It was really no different than Eminem's career in his prime. Older White people hated Eminem. The media hated Eminem.
Young White people that listened to rocknroll finally had their superstar and made Elvis undeniable.
Elvis never denied his influences and that the music he performed was Black music.
Some Black performers of that time may have been salty, but most respected Elvis.
Was a good film
Acting was really good, I don't care for the man music or him generally but it was just a good film.yeah I enjoyed it and appreciated they showed his respect, love and appreciation for the Black culture of music and dance….he may have had his skeletons, as all ppl do..but dude wasn’t a bad guy. I’m not a massive EP fan but I do like his music.
