Drama in Bristol: Is Rachel Nichols racist?

As a person not well versed in good reporting or bad. Are you saying that bad reporters aren’t asking the right questions ?
Some examples are questions that are dumb or redundant, or corny, the timing isn’t really the best for the question, or the question irritates the interviewee

like there’s a difference between Jared greenburg and let’s say a Israel Gutierrez

I wish they would stop the practice of those really dumb questions they give coaches at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarters. I find it highly unnecessary

I don’t care how you niggas look at me so stick to the topic and not girly shit

yall ain’t nba fans. I respect the work

we have these discussions in the nba thread. Maria Taylor don’t get brought up

yall feel people shouldn’t be able to say the truth if it’s fucked up. The truth is the truth

So now you know we ain't nba fans? How? Because niggas ain't posting in a thread? And that you was a general you not specific but hit dogs holler so you outed yourself with that one.

You calling not siding with someone who showed their true colors girly shit and trying to make that some stance you're proud of? What's "girly" about not wanting to side with someone who has shown that at the drop of a hat they'll throw someone under the bus? She spoke her truth, not the truth there is a difference, and regardless of how much some of you niggas hate it there are consequences behind the words you say and now Rachel Nichols gotta face then.

Ehh...it sound like she was shittin on ESPN more than Maria. I can definitely see how it could be taken the opposite way tho. There was several side eye worthy white woman things she said in there....

This is exactly what I got out of the conversation 100%.

What makes me really look at things even more is her saying the duties they asked her to give up was already contractually agreed upon to be hers. Why would they come to her and ask her to give up that duty to someone who isn't as longer tenured at the job or has some type of extenuating circumstances?

I just find it odd and the timing of them asking her to help them out very interesting to say the least........

niggas will call out her entitlement but can’t see our own

if niggas couldve explained how Maria deserved it over Rachel, no discussion

how dare y’all pull that white women preference bullshit for a black girl wearing her hair TUH 💁🏾‍♀️

You do caught up in wanting to defend Rachel Nichols you've missed the fact that mostly everyone has agreed that on its own what espn did was foul. Rachel Nichols fucked up by immediately going to "she's only getting this because she's Black". If you don't see how and why that sentiment coming out of the mouth of a white woman whose career has definitely benefited from her own literal personal relationship with someone like Diane Sawyer being in her family then you just won't get it.

So Maria didn't move up the ranks of the company by doing a great job in covering college sports. She did college game day and was doing sideline reporting. She was just as qualified as the white chick
What does that have to do with the NBA? Rachel is beyond that

i don’t really watch amateur sports on tv 🤷🏾‍♀️

it ain’t about qualifications, it’s about the fucking work

ESPN had to give Rachel Nichols and Woj positions because of their relationships. Wake up

Yeah,

I wouldn't be surprised if a huge law suit is coming ESPN's way from her also. @Sion already pointed it out earlier in this thread how shit could and most likely will go.

It's about to get even more messy than it already was because I can see Maria leaving also.

If Rachel is indeed fired and Maria decides to not resign with ESPN, that would be interesting

This is where espn takes the vast majority of the blame and it would've been 100% on them had Rachel Nichols simply not mentioned Maria Taylor's name and only went off about being replaced and not the why behind it. Once she injected that part is when she became at fault on her own accord

people still get upset white people dont get it and that’s why you lashing out

I’ve accepted it. Some of them can be worked with though. Rachel can be worked with

thats not caping, it’s called nuance Stupid MFs

Nobody expects white people, especially white women the literal face of white victimhood, to get it. Nuance is seeing that the situation has multiple factors at play which it does. Nuance would also mean you'd be able to see why what Rachel Nichols said would make many see her as untrustworthy and someone who would speak up for Black people moving forward...but you go ahead and keep that faith that she can be worked with

So you just accept it and don't want things changed.

Amin El Hassan was on Dan LeBatard this morning with Jemele Hill and he went off on Woj about his bad teammate comment and said that Woj has also torpedoed the careers of Black journalists and basically puts his name on stories he doesn't always write.

Great drop. I'm glad Dan landed on his feet and I love that his shows are on YouTube.

I really liked the conversation they had on this subject and they kinda see the situation the way I did also. I'm listening through the whole show right now and even subscribed to their YouTube channel
