OUT NOW Drake - ICEMAN

Added to Calendar: 05-15-26

From fan base and financial sense no he doesn’t need the machine. From an insecurity and ego sense, he does.

Survive the droughts, I wish him well.
I mean we're in year 16 what droughts?

But ultimately I think equity is probably the motive. He's 40 and can't keep doing this forever. Gotta leave with something tangible.

At this point, I've heard more from people speaking on Drake fans than actual Drake fans. I don't know what it's like for most people, but Drake doesn't have this crazed fan base. Not like Taylor Swift or Beyonce at least. I mean, I get it that every artist has Stans, but the commentary around Drake the last few years has been different variations of people speaking on his fans and not much from his actual fans.

This is what made the whole shit with Kendrick feel weird because outside of the beef, Kendrick has fans, so I'm not debating that. I do think that it is just weird how the critics of Drake were amplified during the beef, like they were so fed up with his fans. I never thought Drake fans were a thing like that. Now nothing can be said about this nigga without adding mysterious disclaimers about his fans, but I'm not sure if it's even like that.

Maybe I'm an old nigga, and I'm just not seeing it lolololololololololololol

Anybody whose fan group does that flood people's comments with an emoji shit has a crazed fan base. And Drake has that same as some other artists. I would say though that since Like That Dropped Kendrick stans have surpassed Drake fans in terms of being annoying dick riders

U think they went into work on no sleep because they stayed up all night listening to 3 new Drake albums
They wouldn’t have been the only ones to do it lol

It’s the biggest release in a dying industry they need to be able to speak on it asap

Well they would need to be very dedicated to their jobs

Its AM radio and an unexpected 3hrs worth of music that dropped at midnight

Its not like these shows actually break down albums song for song. CTG just regurgitate same talkin points from yesterday.

u could always tell Budden never listened to albums before they would discuss them on Everyday Struggle too.

Ima need people to stop acting like digesting three Drake albums is this monumental task.

With that said tho, my verdict for Iceman after listening to it multiple times… it’s solid. Nothing about it was terrible, nothing stood out as a massive hit for the masses, but it was a good. Introspective at times, cringe in some respects but cohesive for the most part. I’ve said that the problem with a lot of Drakes albums is that with the exception of the co opting whatever regional style is hot every so often, we essentially get the same thing from him every project. This time tho was clearly different. He had to come out swinging. As far as him being a pure MC this maybe the best he’s been on a proper solo album in a very long time. The opening track was a very good way to set the tone.

Getting the Kendrick shit out the way, it was expected that Drake was gonna take his lil shots. Anyone who wanted him to just pretend like the last two years didn’t happen and for him to act like things are status quo as far as his reputation goes are living in dreamville (pun intended). It is what it is. Hearing Drake trying to minimize the impact of what happened and K Dot’s success in the aftermath was at best, Jay-Z after “Ether” levels of coping. He didn’t go full Ja Rule “Blood in my Eye”, but at times he was toeing the line.

With that said the most interesting track on the whole album for me is “Make Them Pay” for one reason and one reason only.

I been wanting to get this sidebar off my chest for a minute. J Cole maybe the ultimate loser of this whole two year long trial. All this nigga had to do was pick a side lol. I side eye this nigga like I do people who wanna vote for third party candidates. Choosing none, giving the reasons why he did, and essentially ending two working and personal relationships while shooting yourself in the foot in the process is something he may not come back from. The Fall Off came and went so fast that I got more thoughts on why he would go out his way to ride around in Silver fucking Spring talking to college kids then anything he’s put on wax in the meantime. Drake will continue to make money and have hits, Kendrick will continue to have critical and commercial success… and J Cole forced people to admit to themselves that in the end there never really was a “Big 3”.

That was a tangent lol. Ima go get food and finish this review later.

Every other track I have to stop and ask myself “What am I even listening to rn?”. 😭

Wasn’t this the exact shit they were criticizing Kendrick on MMATBS, btw?

Only difference is Kendrick was actually unpacking shit, all I’m hearing is Drake bitching and telling everyone he’s not their friend anymore.

Not gonna lie theres some heavy shoulder movements when ran 2 Atlanta comes on. They were sliding. I miss that tandem. They made some magic together.

It's because they're all quiet. They been quiet ever since the beef. 😂

The majority of Drake fans only care about aura, vibes and optics.

It's not over for them until Drake gets a Not Like Us level run. Kinda sad, tbh. 🤧
