If it's true then the burden of proof is on the person who puts the information out there and it would let folks know don'tsay shit you can't back up with actual evidence. If you can't prove its true or not then yeah I do think there should be some form of consequences for those who choose to use gossip as a legit source of information. We've already seen in real time how it distorts people views of actual legal cases. It's legit making people dumber.
