Dennis Graham says Drake made up lyrics about their relationship to sell records

Drake’s Dad Denies Being Absentee Father, Says Rapper Includes Those Lyrics to Sell Records

Despite Drake sometimes suggesting that his father was an absentee parent, his dad Dennis Graham says he was always in the rapper's life. In fact, he maintains that the Toronto rapper only painted him that way so he could sell records.

While visiting Power 106's Nick Cannon Mornings radio show last Friday (Oct. 4), Nick Cannon asked about Graham's purportedly once-strained relationship with Drizzy. In response, Graham said Drake had been making these claims to help his own record sales.

"I had a conversation with Drake about that," Graham began. "I have always been with Drake. I talked to him if not every day, every other day and we really got into a deep conversation about that, 'I said Drake, why are you saying all this different stuff about me man like this is not cool'. He goes 'Dad it sells records,' and I said 'Okay well cool.'"

Drake music has been known to touch on his personal relationships with his women and his parents in his music. On his Take Care song "Look What You've Done," Drake gets more specific when he raps about his father allegedly not paying child support and thus not being in his life at times.

"And my father living in Memphis now, he can't come this way/Over some minor charges and child support/That just wasn't paid, damn/Boo-hoo, sad story—Black American dad story," Drizzy raps on the 2011 track.

Drizzy has yet to comment on his father's claim. See what Drizzy's father's got to say about this below.

Artists no matter what genre make up stories all the time or add some flava to it. Nothing new and very common. Same thing with authors. It's not really a big deal.

I don't think Joe Budden lied about being addicted to Angel dust though fwiw

I call bullshit

his pops been putting out some trash ass music just for attention. (He gotta know that shit trash) and i guess now that he not getting attention through being a shitty musician he just gonna lie on Drake to get it

oh ok...i was confused about you saying no one listens to drake for his content

Cause The Lox actually caught all those bodies and moved all that weight
not the really same thing though, is it?

We already know Dennis was living in Memphis while Drake was living in Toronto, so best case scenario he was support and all of that but still physically 1000 miles away. There's only so much parenting he could do through the phone
