Welcome To aBlackWeb

Netflix Dear White People

They unexpectedly got me over here shedding thug tears on ep 9. Fuck this bullshit bruh lol

Finished. Loved this season and love the show.

That rikki chick talking to Sam reminded me of this

And that part was funny cuz Tessa Thompson (Rikki) also played Sam in the movie so it was meta her being like "I've seen you, I'm a fan"

I'm on 5. Yo this show negrodamus'd a few things lol. Playing the Jesus walks sample before Kanye lost his damn mind, ol girl singing lift every voice before beychella, and having the Stacey Dash esque parody before Candace Owens became a thing....sidenote why these alt right black chicks always have terrible weaves. I was rollin when that shit popped up.

And I died when we found out that nigga was a hotep.

Yo i was dying at the Jesus walks shit i was like well aint that ironic..

That Hotep shit was fuckin hilarious as it was unfolding i was like HOTEP nigga

I thought they were and i think she should have explored more of Reggie and his Demons..

I thought the ending was pretty wack tbh... i wasnt terribly excited about that part of the story line thought it would have a pay off

But this show gets such much into each episode thats pretty damn amazing. That they pull that off. It was cool to see Tessa Thompson and dude back on it.. I think they Od's with the interracial relations.. it just seeped real purposeful

I love the nuance of this show...the broad spectrums of the "group" and the individuals in said group..you simply can't paint with a broad brush and just lump people into it then expect them to be all the same...

Therein lies one of the problems, even within the group folk want people to think the same, act the same and go along with whatever the supposed leader says..they made a good point and one of the episodes when they noted that the previous generations of blacks were able to do stuff despite their differences whereas the current generation basically sits around and argue because they have differences...

That was some real shit Coco said to Joelle about no one being willing to stand up to Sam and just cosigning whatever she says...

On another note...regarding Sam, Coco and Joelle, those are three beautiful women...

Joelle got the short end of the stick this season.

She's not only the perpetual sidekick of Sam, but her feelings over being sidelined due to her complexion go virtually ignored. They finally gave her a black boyfriend only to undercut the only black couple by making him a condescending chauvinist. Then Reggie gives her the most bullshit excuse I'd be afraid to ever use on a woman with common sense... and she fell for it.

I've watched a couple episodes on Vol. 2...

Interesting arguments here but to me the summary of the show is young Black people who have little fetishes for White people (mostly sexual) but put on a front as extra pro Black to their mates...

I like how the show blurs the line with that hypocrisy

I like the show. I binge watch cause the shit is only 30 something minutes per episode. Catch most of the symbols and messages.

Have to say I think I liked season 1 better than season 2 even though both are were damn good.

That isn't really hypocrisy though. It shows that people are nuanced. You can be sensitive, even overly sensitive, about Black issues or any issue and still fall for whomever you fall for..

I'm saying...

I'm one of the few people that's ok with homie hopping, but "You were my first choice but I was afraid you'd reject me so I went for your friend" is the biggest pile of shit I've ever heard.

Like fam she already showed you she checking for you. Why not keep it 100%

GOATNESS

The hotep episode was funny af.

Seeing Sam going back & forth with the troll for 24hrs was SADDER...DENA...BITCH! I know that hit home wit a lot of folks.

Smash on that student journalist chick tho. A 3sum wit her would be glorious. Lol @ "NO MEANS NO!"

Am I the only one who feels Reggie is one bad day away from unleashing the Rage Of Kratos on the whole campus?

How it ended only makes me curious about what they'll uncover
