Exactly, Joker is essential. The animated movies are some of the best movies and Joker is always around. So why keep him out of these movies? If people never get tired of seeing different versions of Batman why get tired of seeing different versions of Joker, especially if done well?

Spot on with your point about people wondering where is the Joker. Even if he’s not the main villain, you can’t just leave him out all together. There’s been very few of the animated joints where he doesn’t show up at all.

Maybe in the comic franchise, but in the movie and animated franchises, with which the causal viewer is more familiar, Joker is a big deal. And leaving him out completely isn’t the best move. Even Nolan recognized that. So much so had Ledger not died Joker would have played a role in Rises.

I’d venture to say Joker is just as important to the franchise as Batman. A lot of people even prefer Joker over Batman. Batman is basically the same every movie, but Joker can be so many different variations it can be fresh and new each time.
