Forgiveness isn't about what the other person. That's what these people don't understand. Even from a Biblical stance, that's not what's about. You're supposed to forgive people because you know that you've done fucked up shit and God forgave you. It doesn't mean you just expect people to do right. I doesn't mean that you blindly think people will change. You forgive out of obedience to God and because it allows you to unburden yourself of grudges and hatred. So the whole talking point of "Forgiveness is stupid because it won't change these white people" is stupid.

I am well aware of all that. But if its for the self, then why the need to show the world you forgave them? Is not letting it go in your heart enough? Why does the guilt party need to be made aware they are forgiven?

Hey, I agree with that. I agreed with @5th Letter when he said dude should have forgiven at home. He also could have visited her in jail and forgiven her then if he wanted her to know.

I've never said I agreed with what he did. I just don't agree with these people trying to act like black people being forgiving is the foundation of all the problems in our community. That's bullshit. Whether we are forgiving or hold grudges, CACs still gonna CAC.

Im a black male in my 30s and its been explained. Just dont agree.

Seems that some are projecting their anger on a grieving kid which i find ridiculous.

Project that anger on the sentencing, project that anger on the judge, dont know why the family gotta be involved.

If they want to protest and criticize the sentence thats great, if they want to forgive thats on them too.

I agree the brunt of the arrows should be at the judge.. This family may be the current subject but they are part of a lineage of fol who are entranced by performative grace... And the white man gets paid off of all of that.
