More skilled in Most areas and less skilled in less areas.More skilled in some areas now less skilled in certain areas
The truth is usually boring
BarkleyOld NBA players is big part of the reason the league is viewed the way it is
Prime NBA was 2000-2018
90s is extremely hard to watch regardless who playing.
Fuck lebron but he's not lying. Pace and speed of game matters in comparison when talking about wear and tear on bodies.![]()
More like his wack ass usage since he refuses to play defenseNah, running to the 3 point line every time down doesn't make the season tougher. These niggas barely touch the paint.
He's just building an excuse for load management.
I expanded reasoning in my post. Should be easy to understand but some of yall process shit with feelings lol.Nah, running to the 3 point line every time down doesn't make the season tougher. These niggas barely touch the paint.

80s and 90s was full of drunks and addicts playing ball in vans

I haven’t gone more than a couple days without watching or playing ball since 1995. It's not a condemnation on 80s 90s or even early 00s ball. Shit is just much faster. And tactics to combat it like fullcourt press are used more in the league today which also leads to more injuries.
That escalated quickly lol chill out IceI expanded reasoning in my post. Should be easy to understand but some of yall process shit with feelings lol.
Players today have to cover more distance on defense and can't just tackle eachother. Nba defense back then was just anything goes. It's more nuanced today cause players are more skilled offensively overall and the league protects them more leading to much more movement and ground coverage defensively.I thought the same thing, but apparently the pace in the 80s was pretty close to now. I feel like there is much more movement on defense for the people that actually play defense. I don't necessarily know that any of that cancels out the fewer back to backs, better healthcare, and improved travel accommodations. Also, the game itself seems to stop a lot more with all the replays and other quirks. So while the players might move around more when the action is on, it does seem like they get to rest more in the game.
On topic, I think the average skill level is higher now. Back in the day, being a goon was actually a common role. Those dudes wouldn't even make it into the league now, so that kinda raises the skill level by default. That said, at the higher levels, I don't think there is a big difference. Top players have more range now than they did before, but, at the same time, have basically completely lost some skills (e.g., playing in the post). Defense is a mixed bag too. You have some great defenders now, but a lot of the top players these days don't play any defense. That wasn't really common back in the day. Jokic is considered the best in the world, and he's a poor defender at best. I can't think of an era where the top guy was that deficient on one side of the ball.
Bill Russell won 12 ships in a league w 8 teams full of heroin addictsBut when I said this about bill Russell niggas tried to jump me. Lol.

The load management thing doesn't even happen anymore. If a player isn't legit injured they're not just sitting out to sit out. That was a short time period started by the Spurs that the NBA fined teams for to make them stop.
