Who U Got?

sound of group in harmony>>>>vocal abilities of one member

How would one explain the 99% solo career success rate of the vocal lead singer of the group once they leave the group and do them?

Sisqo great solo

Slim from 112 great solo career

MJ from Jackson 5 amazing sole career

What the rest of the members did.

It's about 3 to 4 groups (that 1%) where all of the remaining members of a group had successful careers music wise after the groups broke up.

I don't even know what knock is talking about at this point.

How did we get here

I just don't see how NE as a collective, that has music spanning over several decades is considered 2nd tier to a group that broke up at the height of it's popularity.

And Goldie calling shit bubble gum just makes me feel a type of way. What in the hell are a group of teenagers supposed to talk about? You really giving them shit for cool it now? Like really?

As they grew, so did their content and image. And yes, cool it now still gets spin. Who is playing that anyway when trying to woo a female? Would you play "in my bed" if you're trying to get some skins? No, the song is about infidelity.
This convo is all over the place. First it was, DH has more hits, then it changed to they make better songs. What is it?

Essence fest

NE was on the main stage

Dru Hill in the super lounge (seen both)

Niggas still talk about that NE show and you know how it be at Essence.

Aight, let me kill this bullshit of an argument.

Several decades? We're talking about groups. Nobody is talkin about solo careers. So N.E surviving for decades? In what world did that happen in? Stop making up shit. N.E as a group was not dominating for that long, u gotta stop.

U can feel how you want about the bubblegum shit all u want, doesn't change the fact that it was bubblegum music. So trying to compare that to real rnb, that doesn't sound like cookie cutter trash in 2018 is ridiculous.

First jodeci album, teenagers, first nas album, teenager, tlc, teenagers, see where im going? Again, If u wanna shimmy to that cool it down shit, more power to you, but foh with that shit.

U said their content grew with time, then again... here i am, saying, let me hear the shit. You're making alott of excuses, without dropping this so called greatness of music you're trying so hard to defend.

You may have to go and re-read, maybe not.

I asked who were the better individual singers outta the 3 groups and I name the attributes that you have to have to be considered a good singer (IMO), and just asked when comparing the singers, the lead singers, who is the better singer, using those attributes that qualifies you to be a great singer.

Not sure how you don't understand that but whatever

cuz they needed the vehicle of the group to propel tham and highlight their voice.

and most of their career has songs that could have been group songs, hence the high quality of back up singers.....

anthony hamilton started off as d'angelo's back up singer.....

if u get on your googles, and figure out what songs he recorded back ups on you'd have a semi argument, that those were group songs hamilton was aprt of....

Hol up , wait wait wait, so they've been dominating the game cuz they were at the BET Awards?

giphy.gif

You were right about tlc tho, they were 20. However there were many teenager artists who didn't make cookie cutter shit

You pick the weirdest points to try and argue

That's why no one can ever tell when your serious vs trolling

You live in a world of absolutes,I don't. You seem to think that somehow, you can't make a song like "cool it now" and still be considered "real rnb". So, they start off making "cool it now" type of records, then by the time of the, what "home again" album, they have "still in love", that's not growth?

You live on a hill with extreme ends of the spectrum. Puff is on record saying he wasn't trying to have jodeci to look like boyz 2 men, bivens is on record saying he didn't want b2m looking like jodeci.

Does "Motown Philly" negate the powerful lyrics of on bended knee? No.

Does "thong song" negate the lyrics of "incomplete"? No

But you appear to think an artist can only be one way and they have to be that way all the time

Those songs you named weren't bubble gum. Motown Philly was New Jack Swing. See the problem with debating me about music is, I know my shit, so I'm not gonna let ridiculous shit like "NE birthed rnb male groups" or "cool it now" is real rnb when u can clearly look it up and see it's under the genre "bubblegum pop" lol DOn't get mad at me for being knowledgeable. It's not me taking shots, it's me stating facts.

So new Jack can't be considered bubble gum?

Again I ask, what is bubble gum to you? Pop?

Let me rephrase, a new Jack song can't be considered bubble gum?
