Welcome To aBlackWeb

Be a busy boy for 54 years on minimum wage

This part was VERY telling about his self esteem and the the managers:

Asked why, after so many years, he never asked management for a less demanding job, why he stayed at the same pancake house so long, Loggan doesn’t register the question, as if those questions hadn’t been there in a long time. Ray Walker said he’s asked Loggan about advancing but “Loggan doesn’t want anything else — he’s said he’s fine where he is.” He said, “I think he views this as a place where he knows people, he’s safe and comfortable.” He said Loggan “was the complete opposite of a Black Panther kind of guy,” never an advocate or rabble rouser. He said that limited schooling “probably helped smooth out his world — I would doubt Loggan really ever dreamed about buying a Cadillac.”

Translation: He's a negro that knows his place and as long as he doesn't backtalk, he has a place here and will accept the crumbs we sweep to him."

Fuck this nigga man. Fuck the managers and owners too, but the employee did it to himself.

If he was a cook or something I wouldn't say anything. But a busboy? You washing dishes for 50 years? You not even on the register or serving with tips? Nah fam...

I read through the entire article. It was very interesting. Mr. Logan came to Chicago from Greenville Delta Mississippi by way of the Great Migration as a teen. His childhood was spent in poverty. Started working at the Pancake House in 1964 to this day. He got married, still married, bought a house, still lives there. Wife Claudia gets up everyday and works security (??) at a local school. His grandson describes them as financially stable. I was kinda impressed to he honest. It can't be easy to get up every morning and go to work in your 70's.
Wifey making the big bucks
