Welcome To aBlackWeb

Just watched the reparations episode.

I liked it. Like what the fuck? It seems like it had nothing to do with the "main story" it may or may not have a tie in later. None of the main actors were in it. It was high key a social satire that nobody was really asking for when they were tuning into the show...

But....

This is what they chose to gave us, and I can't front like it wasn't mad entertaining. Call it filler, call it whatever, it was very entertaining. I liked it a lot. And I appreciate them using their platform to tell that very specific satire. It was awesome.

Like yeah, I never found out what happened to Van..... But I'm not mad about the last hour. Shit was a nice trip.

That suicide at the end was so perfect. Like I knew that nigga was about to kill himself. I love them for putting that shit on TV. It was that refreshing feel of the boondocks and Chappelle show before they went crazy.... Back when they were telling honest and hilarious black social commentary. Episodes 1&4 told some dope ass, funny, creative, and very relevant social satire... And while I'm curious as to what's going on with earn and van.....I equally welcome another random episode.. Cuz far as I'm concerned. They 2/2 with them 🤷🏿‍♂️

My opinion

I don't think the creators behind the show giveashit what you, me or the network heads think Atlanta SHOULD be about. It shows in the tangents that the show goes on. While I'm sure that they want us to like and appreciate the show, they're not compromising their vision. They're making the show that they want to and I respect it.

They even sold the show to FX with the pitch that it'd be about the wacky stories of two cousins trying to make it in the rap music business but they left all that other surrealist and weird shit out on purpose. The same way they Trojan horsed FX with their pitch, I see now that they did they same with gettin us invested in Earn, Van, AL and Darius. It reminds me of the hard left turn that The Wire took in Season 2, but now that season is one of my favorites to rewatch.

I can also tell that these Atlanta side stories are made with the same level of care and attention that the main plot is. If this wasn't the case I'd be more likely to shit on it with the rest of yall. But fuckit man I been entertained and I'm fuckin with S3 so far.

the “random” episodes are cool and all because they give some insight to how Donald and Steven see the world…but at the same time, these shits come across like rebooted EXTENDED versions of Chappelle show skits….with a more serious tone.

I would be okay with it if it wasn’t half the season after 4 years

that’s what’s pissin me off too. These shits should be bonus episodes or somethin. This season gonna end up having 5 real episodes that further the plot and the rest….bullshit..all for another year and a half of wait.

This episode was cringe imo. I just don't give a fuck about what white ppl may think about reparations or equality or anything about race at all. Considering their perspective in how they could be impacted by something like this aint "refreshing," "interesting" or "edgy" to me.

:uhhuh6:
:smh:

I dont mind the side episodes thing...and I actually respect the swing they took with this one in particular. I just didn't find the "content" to be worth a damn.

I expect white ppl to eat it up and act like it's so deep and game changing tho. Yawn.

And another thing, I think I said this before but I would also be fine with this if the Eps weren’t boring
