TECH Apple Vision Pro......Sounds like Skynet is here!

Them shits are going to be sold out.

They ain’t pricing out nobody (that matters to them)

I don't know what their strategy is. Like I said, the Apple drones that get everything they put out will probably go into debt trying to buy this shit. The people that got money to blow will get it for sure. Is that enough to justify the development costs? We'll see. It wasn't for Microsoft when they put out the HoloLens.

Spend 3000 on a head set and then up to 60 for every app and game that are the equivalent of mobile gaming. I’ll spend 3000 when I’m not required to wear a headset. This is so close to what you get with the oculus at the price point of 350, you’d be an absolute idiot to buy this is you don’t make 3000 in two days.

HoloLens wasn’t backed by an entire ecosystem that people have already invested into.

This thing will do just fine for the first go round.

There's no ecosystem for this. It isn't really designed to work alongside anything else. That's the whole point They'll get their go to developers to back them, but none of that matters if no one adopts the system.

Not a lot of people have $3500 to invest in such a niche product, but hey, if they can make back their money with relatively low sales, then maybe it will be fine.

I dunno about this AR/VR shit they keep trying to push. Might be something one day but right now its not really appealing to me personally.

Maybe movies might be a selling point for this thing down the line but not at that pricepoint.

how well is Sony doing with that new PSVR2 with barely any decent games to play?

Uh, what? Did you not watch the video?

The Vision Pro runs a version of iOS; anybody who has bought anything from the App Store OR has data attached to iCloud will have a seamless integration. Are you being for real?

It’s not built to work along side anything? What? They showed you can connect it to consoles and to steam as a display…and as you saw, you can make the display as big as you want.

Stop playing. Apple knew what they were doing with this.

Im sure they'll release more affordable lower end models in the future when competitors start offering their own VR tech. Not sure that's saying much given it's bougie ass Apple, but it makes sense to wow tech enthusiasts with something powerful and high spec at the outset. It's Apple btw. Their consumer base aren't exactly bargain hunters.

From the sounds of it, they made the most advanced headset on the market by a big margin. The problem is that doesn't matter if no one is able to get it.

Microsoft made the same mistake with the Hololens. At the time it was the most advenced headset and was just as cutting edge as this Apple joint is now, and it went nowhere because nobody at that time was going to spend 1000+ on a AR/VR headset.

These developers don't seem to understand that VR/AR is still in a proving phase. A lot of people understand it, but a lot more people don't really get why it's something worth investing it. They're trying to treat this shit like the iPhone and don't seem to understand that the strategy works for phones because people already have them integrated into their everyday lives and don't need to be sold on them.
I dunno seems like apple formula to me. They did it with the mac, ipad and the iPhone.

There's some conflicting information. The video I watched said that it's built on a new OS not iOS, which makes much more sense since iOS isn't built to handle something like this. Also, the only apps they have available right now are standard first party apps, the kind that were absolutely available for HoloLens. And yes, you can use it the same way you can use Meta systems as a computer with configurable display setup. That didn't work for that system, and it was half the price.

Look, I ain't going to argue about this. You got your faith in Apple that you seem to want to ride or die for. All I can say is we'll see.

True, but phones, tablets, and personal computers were all established products that people already saw value in, and this costs more than any of those did when they debuted even when adjusting for inflation. It's easy to see a $600 phone when the concept of portable phones has already been embraced. People haven't really bought into AR/VR on a wide scale yet. It's still niche tech, so coming out with a system that's more than twice as much as the next most important system, which was already overpriced for the market is risky. It's Apple, so as I've said they have their drones, but I don't know that they have enough to make this venture profitable. We'll see though.

It’s not VR; it’s augmented reality.

Which like you said, is a completely diff demo than what oculus rift and other headsets are going after.

It's mixed reality. It can do both VR and AR. You're right though. It isn't meant to compete with the purely VR systems. It''s competing with that Meta system. It's way better than that system, but a lot more expensive too.

Still not seeing much in the way of innovation from apple.. just taking more ideas from others who have innovated before them and slapping an apple on the shit while upping the price. I guess it's been working well for them this far so fuck it
