Every staple food in American cuisine derives from an African or European seed except for modern commercial dishes. Just like Curry goat derives from an Indian one.

If our culture was American then cacs wouldn’t want to riot when they sang Lift Every Voice and Sing at the Super Bowl. We are a branch of the African diaspora, not a separate tree. No more unique than people from Martinique or Nova Scotia.

You know most Black people root for Football teams with White QB’s and coaches that batter Black women and compare their players to jail inmates, right?

Black people that live in Western Europe don’t have a fusion but Black people that live with American whites do? And we’re from ALLOVA Africa, that’s why Gumbo is a Kongo word from Central Africa.

The hoe said we have NO culture here in the US. That ain't a "perceived slight" when everything about the modern Black Brit is 100% borrowed from around the globe, including Hip Hop from so-called cultureless American Black folks.

Yeah, collards are a European thing, it's not native to The Americas or Africa at all, but it wasn't until African slaves in the southern US and their descendants put their whole ass foot in it that they were considered good eatin'.

The curry you get across the Caribbean originated in India, as the Brits started bringing Indians to the islands as slaves/indentured workers and they taught the descendants of Africans how to make it and, once again, we put our fuckin foot in it and made the shit special (same for roti, etc)

The modern Black Brit barely has an identity, let alone a "culture" they can claim as their own. The music they listen to originiated here in The States. The foods they eat originated in The Caribbean and parts of Africa. Their way of dress comes largely from American Black folks, and their slang comes from a mix of the US and the Caribbean.

Brother the video is clearly marked “stop coming for black Brit’s” and is posited entirely as a refutation of the perception they are appropriating AA culture.

Your second paragraph merely reinforce the fact that these aspects of our diasporan experience were borrowed from around the globe, as you put it. Negro cotton was the greatest export of the 19th century, is that our culture too? Wudnt good cotton till we picked it!

Certainly you don’t think that the millions of Black Brits, many of of whom as you’ve pointed out are of West-Indian origin walk the streets of London talking like they’re from Atlanta or Detroit? The same way we have Black poets, authors, thinkers and creatives is the same way they have museums, sculptures, fine arts and history. You’re doing the same thing White people do when they pretend we sat on our hands for 400 years and waited to be freed.

Hip Hop is AA culture. You don't get to sit off trying to act like us, dress like us, talk like us, appropriate Cali gangs and shit, then say we have no culture when their whole existence comes from elsewhere!

Like @SneakDZA said, fried chicken and collard greens, or anything to do with soul food no longer has a connection to it's origins wherever that may be. Curries and whatnot from The Islands and Guyana really ain't got shit to do with India anymore, it's theirs and no one else's.

Most American anything is an amalgam of different cultures. The fact is that black people were the ones responsible for putting most of it together. For example, it's true that the Scots fried chicken before it was done in America, but their version would be unrecognizable today. What we refer to as Southern Fried Chicken is as different from what the Scots did as it is from chicken tempura from Japan. They are all fried chicken, but they are clearly different dishes. That goes for music, clothing, speech, and everything else. Black Americans have always been innovators, and it's silly to say we don't have a culture.
