Research a lot of other delicacies that are attached to other groups, you’ll see they weren’t born from the best of times. But they still cherish it cause if it’s roots and what it meant to the people. Shit like Haggis and Humus. A lot of Greek and Italian food.
Cause of the hierarchy of society you’d think those delicacies came from good times and are the meals of a refined palate.

To answer your question tho, people love that shit in S.C. I never got the big deal. Shit gotta be made by someone who knows how to make it for it to be good. Which is crazy considering how easy it is to make it. Can’t eat everybody grits, specially when niggaz got dirty pipes and you can smell the water in that shit
