It didn't fail. An American investor bought the team and bounced, it was just framed as failing but they were doing fine. Just didn't have an owner invested in the city and country.

The raptors are lucky that our team owners have always berm canada based and vested in keeping the NBA here.

Vancouver is a nice city but still med/small market so they needed an owner that could sustain those losses with the city but they never really had it with the original owner being Seattle based.
Ontop of this, the Raptors also put basketball on the map in Canada. Basketball in Canada is exponentially more popular now than it was 20 years.

Idk if the move is Vancouver or somewhere else, but I think another team in Canada will pop off

Would have to be Vancouver imo. Montreal could probably make it work but idk

It’s funny reading a lot of you guys views. A lot of you don’t like shit. Lmao.

You don’t like the silly/funny guys and you’re vehemently opposed to anything dealing with advanced stats or analytics.

What do you guys want/ like? Just the game to be played with no analysis? I’m not even trying to be funny, I’m honestly interested in what a lot of you think is decent to good coverage on the league?

Social media has made people think their opinion on everything matters, even with the announcers lol. Are you really not gonna watch a game because Reggie Miller is on the call? I already know that answer with most of you lol

Great answer by @TTBF

Sadly what he said happens a ton in sports. New people buy a team and they don’t have ties to that city. They get info from another city that they will foot the bill on a new arena or they can assure them it will be more lucrative and the new owners Bounce for greener pastures

The issue is that folks here watch alot of basketball. And when you watch so much and you hear the same announcers, you start hating it.

Great example

I know for me, he was legit background white noise. You knew it was there but you never really paid it attention until niggas started really making you pay attention to it

And it's one of those things where you can't go back to not hearing it

I cringe every time he's on the broadcast now and that didn't used to be the case

I agree with you about social media sometimes being annoying because a lot of folks believe their opinions matter.

I definitely have a lot of folks who I kinda try to avoid, but I also will give them a look if they have an interesting guest or if they have an interesting conversation.

I love the sport a lot and honestly try to consume as much as possible.

Anyway I would love to hear some folks you like and everyone else in here.

National broadcaster:

Mike Breen is the shit
Kevin Harlan has been great since the 1990s
I like Brian Anderson, Dave Pasch, Spero Dedes, Ryan Ruocco

Local announcers:

I like Matt Delvin, don’t know if he still calls Raptors games

I like the Pelicans’ Joel Meyers

Eric Reid since he’s on the Heat and does a good job

That’s all I can think of for now

All I care about is the score. I rarely even have the sound on when watching games. I usually listen to music during that time. Not really interested in who is a free agent 2 years from now or salary caps etc. I'm a Sixers fan and for the most part, I want what's best for the team but at the end of the day, I don't play for Philly. I have no control over what happens. I really hate the offseason bcuz I just want to watch the damn games. Fan bases, Narratives, Top 10 Lists, and MVP races get really annoying during the season. I'm at peace when just watching a game. Doesn't matter who. I'm here for the point spread.

I like damn near all the folks you named also. The Knicks and the Nets have awesome in game coverage. I’m surprised you didn’t throw Ian Eagle in there. Lol.

The pelicans do have a good duo with Joel and (I’m biased due to Spurs ties, but he is pretty even keeled) Antonio Daniels.

I appreciate the dialogue!

Understandable.

I honestly love the team building almost as much as the game itself. I know I’m not the norm when it comes to that though.

I respect and 100% understand your logic and thank you for the dialogue
