Maybe all star weekend isn’t for us anymore or hasn’t been for years

Let's be real about All-Star Weekend.

The all-star game was so fans can see their favorite players play together and a league showcase.

With rampant free agency, basketball highlights 24/7...the all-star weekend has no purpose other than the place to take your side chick for the weekend if you wanna stunt.

I went to the 2012 All-Star Game in Houston and it wasn't the same when I went in 2001 when AI won MVP.

The All-Star Game isn't about competition anymore, it's about spectacle. If you one of those basketball purist types that wanna see guys try hard and shit, it isn't really for you.

NBA is essentially a gossip, spectacle entity that made it their business to highlight the lifestyle and narratives of their players than the competition.

Players know that and that's why they don't give a fuck lol.

Opening more dope houses during a drought is bad for bizness.

Yeah but the NBA doesn't make it's money from TV ratings like the NFL does.

Most of the NBA's growth is projected by their social media engagement and the growth of international fans.

The NBA is like Hollywood today.

Hollywood doesn't make it's money from US domestic box office anymore, they make their money from the International Box Office.

That's why all of American produced blockbuster movies are dumbed down, redundant, full of CGI and a convoluted plot based on a previous IP. It's meant for non-English speakers.

That's why we no longer have movie stars. Most of the money in the old days used to go a movie star in order to sell an original script, now the money goes to production and the stars don't get paid shit.

NBA doesn't need TV ratings, they need to sell streaming rights and subscriptions and keep their engagement up on social media.

Lol, that's why the midrange game is dead and niggas ain't getting clotheslined anymore, who the fuck wanna watch that really?

IMO the league needs to be more exclusive and less inclusive.

NBA broadcasting revenue
Broadcasting deals present the largest source of revenue for the NBA. The league is currently under the largest media contract in the league's history.

The league is eligible for another extension, with a projected worth of $75 billion over 9 years.
This deal would increase the NBA's broadcasting revenue to over $8 billion per year.
