It fills a slot to constantly have some event to build towards/promote. Silver has done a good job of creating multiple tentpopes throughout the season and that should payoff in the long run with fan interest and media deals.

They gotta iron out the stakes still but I can see the day where a tourney win will go a long way for some of these long suffering fantasies.

The European version of this for soccer works because those teams are playing teams from other leagues. These teams are already in the same league and they play each other every year.

Lmaooo yo the games count as regular season games. So why do yall care this much? To me this is just watching games on a Friday.
Had this been additional games or had they taken away games for this, i would understand being upset/caring, but this is just a regular season game that they attach an additional stake too.
