Here's the truth as per the Athletic:

The Athletic says that Chelsea attempted to activate Olise's release clause on August 13. There was an agreement in the deal that interested clubs had to activate the clause at least 14 days before the end of the transfer window.

It was reported that the clause was set at £35m and Chelsea had agreed to pay that amount. But the Athletic now says that wasn't the case.

It is now claimed that Chelsea were entitled to know a clause existed but did not know the conditions of how to activate it. An interested club could not activate the clause but it was Olise's responsibility to inform Palace of interest in him and Chelsea's intention to pay his clause.

Olise then had to make Chelsea aware of how much they needed to pay, with the report claiming the figure was in fact significantly larger than £35m. Chelsea would have had to notify Palace, via Olise, that they intended to pay the clause in full.

Chelsea were left red-faced as they instead went straight to Palace. They were ignored by their London rivals as Palace felt the process stated in Olise's contract was not followed.

Olise will now end the transfer window at Selhurst Park.


Long story short, chelsea played themselves.

The handling of the Mason Greenwood situation has been a shambles.

The club believe he is innocent but are letting him go due to backlash?

Based on the club statement it leads me to believe the girl lied, police found out and promptly dropped all charges.

This leaves it to the club to deal with. But the only way for MG to come back is if it is revealed the girl lied. Meanwhile she gets pregnant and the backlash from social media means revealing the lie is out of the question.

As I’ve said before, should have sent him on loan asap and give it a year to see what transpires. They may still send him on loan.

I think you could get £40-50m for him.. and I think Jose wants him. Should do a deal with sell on fee clause just in case.

Not starting him again... Dunno if it's just Arteta trying to his best Bald Fraud impression or if there's more to it. He apparently turned down Real Madrid so it seems like he's staying

Edit: It's tactical, nothing more
