2021/22 NBA Season Thread

Edit: didn't see Finny-Smith got signed

I'm confused by what Dallas is doing.

I understand trying to get off the Porzingas contract but Spencer D has a long term deal and honestly isnt that good. They also took back Bertans bad contract but at least he fits a need as a big shooter if he is healthy.

Jalen Brunson is coming up on needing a new deal and Brunson is a better player than Spencer Dinwiddie, in my opinion.......

Strange trade to me
I think Dinwiddie was insurance in case they don’t retain brunson

I’m Okay with bertans’ bad contract because if he can get into an actual rhythm again and return to being a decent stretch big it’s essentially having porzingis level spacing for half the money

True..

It's going to be a big drop off from Brunson to Spencer but it does make sense to cover themselves if he leaves.

I can understand the Bertans fit 100% because like we both stated, if he stays healthy and gets his rhythm back he is a dangerous weapon offensively.

Porzingas hasn't really been the same since his first major injury. When tall guys get lower extremity injuries it sadly almost all the time changes them.

If I’m a mavs fan, I’m not exactly blown away but I would feel okay

maybe Dinwiddie plays better in Dallas but I mean he could honestly come off the bench and the mavs used to playing without kristaps anyways but now they don’t have to deal with the Is he gonna play or not game. They need an actual big that they probably won’t get but maybe pick up Tristan Thompson to shore up the rebounding as a cheap option

if THJ comes back they’ll be fine

just in the offseason make a real push to get Luka an actual team

Oh I’m not talking about what ax wants because he’s borderline delusional but just a good trade in general

especially when they are about to move Schroeder
We've been the number 1 defense in 2022 and won 13 out of our last 17 and im "borderline delusional" for being happy about our play? Elaborate

Brooklyn got a decent haul for James and Philly got to keep some of their young guys while getting the person they coveted.

I will say this though, Brooklyn has a shit ton of shooters now with Mills, Curry, KD, Kyrie, (I know he is hurt) and Harris. Not too mention they have their center in Drummond and a super versatile player in Ben Simmons.

Steve Nash can have them playing so many different ways with the talent they have on that team. If the vaccine mandate gets changed or (very doubtful) Kyrie takes the vaccine, KD comes back quick, and Ben hits the ground running they are gonna be a problem come playoff time this season.

Sadly that's coming sooner than most Brooklyn fans would want though....
