What is a Illegal Forward Pass Penalty?
An Illegal Forward Pass Penalty is called when a player throws the ball forward once they are past the line of scrimmage. This can be the quarterback or any other player. This penalty can also be called if two forward passes are thrown on one play, even though they are both behind the line of scrimmage.

Number of Yards
There is a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the foul and the offense loses a down in both the NFL and College Football.

They did lose a down. It went from 3rd to 4th. It's not gonna go from 3rd, to losing a 4th... which would be a turnover.

No bruh

they only lost a down because LA had to decline the penalty but the yards gain stood.

It was suppose to be a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the foul and lost of down.

but it was a completed pass with a 8 yard gain on 3rd down. Which was 2 yards short of the first down.
