how about last year though.
He missed 50 games 1 years and Luke ducking Walton took over and they had a better win % with him.

The fact that he took a 1st round exit team to the finals and won it in his 1st year. Or that he accomplished it by completely overhauling the offensive and defensive schemes of said team.
Warriors went from running the most iso's and least passes in the league to the most passes in the league in an offense that mostly forsook pick and rolls for high elbow actions that took a middling offense and turned it into the # 1 offense in the league.
And then on defense he implemented a switch everything scheme that took a middle of the pack defense and which became the # 1 defense in the league as well. This was aided by his embrace of small ball tactics that helped usher in the current style of play in the league.
Couple that with the individual growth of all the core players and yeah it equals out to being a damn fine coach.
