If I had to call my shot if it’s truly Urban or bust, Tex keeps Herman this year.

From what I hear on the Urban front is his wife legit likes that he’s out of coaching and stress free.

On the flip side I heard he would come out of retirement for USC, ND or Tex. And in that order due to compromise with wife. SC is the easiest job and least stressful plus him & wife already live there (SC admin blowing it though and I think he’ll move on eventually) , followed by ND, Midwest is nothing new for them (if BK goes to the NFL, if I’m a Tex fan I’m rooting for BK to stay at ND) and then Tex. And that’s only last due to it’s the most stressful job of the 3.

Per Dan Patrick, USC cant afford to fire Helton and hire a big name. Football guys like Hayden and Swann arent there anymore so they're being more conservative with the football program. Plus Helton keeps finding a way to win. That last drive was too damn easy.

Somehwat true but somewhat off.

Haden and Swann were worse for the football program than the AD Bohn is now. The prior two were cool with just being solid. Haden hired Sark instead of some better options at the time and Swann gave Helton the extension that makes his buyout tough to get out of currently.

Boosters were/are willing to eat Helton’s buyout for UM but only him. President Folt said no to UM and the boosters said no buyout money at that price for anyone else. Which is why Clay kept the job last season. This season Covid ended up saving him. If we played our full schedule the Bama opener would’ve been a bloodbath, ND woulda stomped us, and probably 2 more random L’s. Then he’s probably fired and they hire Fickell.

Next year the p12 will be better than this year and he’ll lose at least 4 games & get fired. Buyout will be reasonably low then.

He had a horrible season but should be decent with a good OC. He does have an extensive history of concussions though.

He should go the Buechele route, Sonny Dykes would have him putting up serious numbers at SMU.

Damn I just realized Shane can come back if he wants to since this year didn’t count for eligibility.
