Netflix Mr. McMahon

Added to Calendar: 09-25-24

I think I have one ep left.

I didn’t know he was abused by his step father and sexually abused by his mother. But after hearing that, who he is makes sense: how he’s an evil boss (both in reality and onscreen), how he’s abusive toward his children in storylines, why he would want the incest storyline, how he viewed and treated women, and why he’s completely devoid of emotion towards any trauma. (Continuing after Owen died in ring)

It all makes sense.

I have one episode left, but overall this is a pretty good look for Vince. They essentially give him all the credit for the success of all of wrestling from the 80s onward. They humanized his evil behavior as the product of a person struggling to find themselves through their artistry.

I don't see this as damaging to Vince at all.

If anything this gave him an out to blame all his issues on his childhood, his father, and the fans who never stopped supporting the madness as it was presented as entertainment. Not once did this documentary ever make me think they were deliberately trying to paint an evil picture.

thats not what i gathered

his upbringing came across as reasons for his behavior, not excuses

people closest to him couldn't even explain difference between vince and the mr mcmahon character

i dont see how anyone can view vince in a positive light after this

This documentary taught me that Shane O Mac is one of the greatest wrestlers of all times

Damn shame that Shane coulda been Dana White but instead Vince wanted to build WWF Casinos and the XFL

Now he fucking with AEW. Who knows if he'll ever get into the hall of fame at this point. If he even cares.

Something that stuck out to me was how some of the biggest successes were either someone elses idea or stumbled upon. Not a true Vince McMahon idea.

Like how he didnt like Shawn Michaels actin a fool at first and wanted to fine him but accepted embraced it after crowd loved it.

Marketing Rock as a 3rd generation good guy at first and the crowd hating him.

Not liking "Austin 3:16" in fear of disrespecting the bible belt. Then realizing it was the most popular catchphrase.
