Arum: Loma-Campbell Done Deal; It's Up To Hearn To Announce It
By Keith Idec

There’s nothing holding up the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Luke Campbell lightweight title fight.

Bob Arum, Lomachenko’s promoter, has left the official announcement to Eddie Hearn, whose company promotes Campbell. But negotiations are complete, Arum assured anyone concerned about Lomachenko-Campbell coming off August 31 in London.

“It’s done,” Arum told IFL TV for an interview posted Thursday to its YouTube page. “It’s a done deal. Eddie Hearn asked if we allowed him, who’ll be the promoter in the UK, to make the official announcement. Something about selling tickets and not wanting to interfere with the sale of tickets for the Dillian Whyte fight, which apparently isn’t going too well.”

London’s Whyte (25-1, 18 KOs) is set to battle Colombia’s Oscar Rivas (26-0, 18 KOs) in a 12-round heavyweight fight July 20 at O2 Arena in London. Hearn could wait until after the Whyte-Rivas card to announce Lomachenko-Campbell, which also is expected to be held at O2 Arena.

“Well, you know, whenever he makes [the announcement],” Arum said. “As far as we’re concerned, it’s a signed deal. We’re expecting that fight on August 31st, and I think it’s gonna be at the O2 Arena. But that’s up to Eddie. And we’re all set. ESPN is sending over a whole announcing team to England, to cover the fight. So, as far as I’m concerned, with or without an announcement, it’s a go.”

Arum and Hearn avoided a WBC purse bid last week, when they completed a deal for Lomachenko and Campbell to fight for Lomachenko’s WBA and WBO 135-pound crowns and the vacant WBC lightweight title. Mikey Garcia gave up the WBC 135-pound championship two months ago, which led to the WBC ordering a bout between England’s Campbell (20-2, 16 KOs), its No. 1 contender, and Ukraine’s Lomachenko (13-1, 10 KOs).

Lomachenko-Campbell, which will match Olympic gold medalists, will be broadcast by ESPN in the United States and on pay-per-view, via Sky Sports Box Office, in the United Kingdom.

The 31-year-old Lomachenko will fight in the UK for the first time since winning his second Olympic gold medal at the 2012 Summer games in London. Campbell, also 31, won a gold medal in 2012 in London as well.

Just a reminder...

Any of yall wanna put your ABW on Keith Thurman...im taking all bets on July 20th.

Pacquiao aint losing.
He definitely is, do we already have a bet going..I know I got one with somebody

Whyte: Wilder is Phoning The WBC and Begging To Keep Me Away!

Dillian Whyte is really lashing out at WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

In recent interviews, Wilder has blamed Whyte for the long delay with respect to the two of them facing each other.

Whyte has been the WBC's top rated contender for over 600 days and believes the sanctioning body is protecting the champion from facing him.

Earlier this year, Whyte was passed over by the WBC - who made Dominic Breazeale, ranked at three, as the mandatory challenger.

Wilder blew away Breazeale in a single round in May.

Whyte, who fights undefeated Oscar Rivas on July 20th at the O2 Arena in London, is not giving up in his hunt to face Wilder.

He believes that eventually the WBC will be forced to order them to face each other - even if the legal road is needed.

"Now he is trying to cover up his cowardice with bull**** and lies. Wilder and his Bumsquad are deluded and desperate to avoid fighting me at all costs. I offered him more to fight me than he got for fighting Luis Ortiz and Tyson Fury combined," Whyte told Talk Sport.

"The truth of the matter is that he has been running from me for over two years and can feel my hot breath on his neck. I’ve heard that he has been waking up in the middle of the night screaming, sweating and shaking and phoning the WBC in a panic, crying and begging them to keep me away from him.

"He is desperate to avoid facing me and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has already pleaded with the WBC to give him a franchise belt for the United States or even Alabama so that he can be heavyweight king in his own little, yellow castle. I am coming for you, Deontay, and when I catch you I am going to hurt you."

Spence: I Dislike Thurman More Than Porter; A Corny Individual

By Keith Idec

Errol Spence Jr. doesn’t dislike Shawn Porter.

Spence isn’t sure why Porter portrayed him as someone that hates the WBC welterweight champion, Spence’s next opponent, during recent interviews. The unbeaten IBF welterweight champion contended that he is indifferent toward Porter during an appearance on “The PBC Podcast,” which was made available Tuesday on premierboxingchampions.com.

“I think he’s kinda making stuff up,” Spence said. “I don’t know where he got that from, I hate his guts and things like that.”

Spence had harsher words for Keith Thurman, the other welterweight champion affiliated with PBC.

“I mean, I dislike Keith Thurman more than I dislike [Porter],” Spence said. “I really don’t, you know, care anything about Shawn Porter or what he has going, or anything like that. So, I don’t know where he got that from – that I’m jealous of him, when I fought on pay-per-view. He hasn’t even fought on pay-per-view yet, so I mean, I don’t know.”

The 29-year-old Spence’s dislike for Thurman mostly stems from the unbeaten WBA welterweight champion’s reluctance to fight him

“He’s been a guy I’ve been wanting to fight for a long time,” Spence said. “Even when I was like 14-0, I wanted to fight him. And plus, I just think he’s corny overall. He’s just a corny individual.”

Spence said later during the podcast that he hopes to fight Thurman after beating Porter, if Thurman can beat Manny Pacquiao in their upcoming WBA welterweight title fight. Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs, 1 NC), of Clearwater, Florida, and the Philippines’ Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) are set to fight July 20 in a FOX Sports Pay-Per-View main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

If Thurman and Spence record respective victories over Pacquiao and Porter, Spence still isn’t sure the logical following fight between them will materialize.

“Keith still don’t mention my name, really,” Spence said. “He keeps saying that we’re gonna fight late 2020.”

Spence (25-0, 21 KOs), of DeSoto Texas, and Las Vegas’ Porter (30-2-1, 17 KOs) have signed contracts to meet in a welterweight title unification fight on an undetermined date during the fall.

Thurman Reacts To Critics: Every Welterweight Wanted Pacquiao

WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman is not listening to the critics, who are taking aim at his decision to defend his title against Manny Pacquiao.

Back in January, Thurman snapped a two year layoff to win a much tougher than expected decision over big underdog Josesito Lopez.

In the aftermath of that win, Thurman made it clear that 2019 was a "get-back" year - where he would sharpen his skills with mid-tier opponents. He stated in interviews that champions like Errol Spence and Shawn Porter would have to wait until 2020, at the earliest, to face him in a unification.

Numerous observers, and fighters, frowned at Thurman's decision to fight Pacquiao, who is 40-years-old and at the tail-end of his career.

Thurman states that every top welterweight - like Spence, Porter and Terence Crawford - were all gunning to land Pacquiao. And he believes that some of them are now upset because he beat them to the big money opportunity.

“I wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather six years ago at the age of 24. I was never presented with the opportunity at that time. I’m presented with the opportunity today. So the opportunity’s not coming tomorrow, it’s here today. I’ve got to take full advantage of it,” Thurman told Boxing News.

“Every welterweight in the welterweight division wanted this fight. They can say whatever they say want to say about this fight but everybody wanted this fight. Errol Spence, Shawn Porter even Terence Crawford would take this fight. Everybody wanted this fight, as long as Manny Pacquiao still wanted to be an active fighter and he wanted to make more exciting fights for the fight fans. I just think this is one of the best match ups of the year and I definitely believe it could be one of the best fights of the year once we start trading.”

It should be noted that Thurman had initially opened up as a solid favorite to win the fight - but the oddsmakers have shifted to the other side, and now Pacquiao is the favorite to win.

One Lisp fires back at his critics....

Dana White Believes He Can Fix The Boxing Business Model

UFC President Dana White has continued to tease the possibility of a move into boxing - with a sub-company called Zuffa Boxing.

But White has been discussing this move since late 2017 - when the UFC teamed up with Showtime to put together the junior middleweight cross-sport fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

In a recent interview, White stated that he plans to unveil his boxing plans in the very near future.

In the opinion of White, the boxing business model is broken - and he believes that he's got the solution to fix the sport's issues.

One of the items he touches on, is boxing relying on top names - instead of holding smaller events to built up the much bigger shows.

“If you look at the way that it was in the 80s, 90s, even the early 2000s, you had [a few] guys that were [making money]. You had Floyd [Mayweather], you had [Manny] Pacquiao, [Oscar] Del La Hoya, maybe a couple other guys,” White said (via MMA Fighting). “But boxing as a whole, you’re talking about tons of fighters that weren’t making big money and weren’t in big fights. I think that the sport could be so much more.

“If you look at what [the UFC has] built over the last 20 years, and our events, and how many events we’re doing — we’re doing 42 events a year. Every time you go to one of our events, they’re either sold out or they break the record for ticket sales. This year we’re going to break the record for ticket sales, ever, in UFC history. There are more tickets being sold this year than ever before in the history of the company. We continue to put on these fights, people come and see them. They’re on TV, free, they’re on ESPN, which everybody has. And we’re still doing million-dollar gates on these things without the Mayweathers and those types of fights.

“You could build a business [like that] with boxing — build a real business. You’ve just got to break it and rebuild it.”

Nah he had it for a minute if he bought it from Karl Lagerfeld..... but no man should be bragging bout owning purses

Not sure this ever got posted in here

One of the first things Pop Russell say is older fighters would’ve walked through a lot of these dudes...more athletes than fighters, real shit

Niggas mock Wilder but he could’ve fought across eras. That’s rare across all the weight classes. Some of these guys could only be fighters now

Thurman started off as the betting favorite. Now Pac is all of a sudden the favorite on the bettingsites. Personally I think this is a 50/50 fight.

Dubois vs Gorman tonight. Looking forward to this match-up. Two young up and coming heavyweights. I've got Dubois by KO/TKO. Joyce vs Jennings is also an interesting fight.
