It's the first date or 2. Who picks up the tab? Do you split the check?

I don't think my wife has ever paid when we go out, that's gonna change the next time we do. That check come I'm getting up and leaving it with her
 
well when you are married, and you have a joint account, both of ya'll really paying, but the waiter/waitress usually puts the bill near the male. Lately though, it seems they put it in the middle

but the perception is the man pays.

Now if ya'll got fun accounts or whatever, then imo, the ideal situation would be to plan out your date night so that it comes out of the joint account since both of you all are reaping the benefits of the outing.

I've only dated two guys outside the one I'm with, and neither of them would let me pay BUT I think they only do this to "impress." Realistically, to me anyway, you're kinda dumb if you tell someone willing to pay for their own food not to pay for their own food cause sexism taught you to pay for your ladies meals or some nonsense. Idk why they do that really.. dudes whyyyy?

Why must men and women play themselves like this? Doing one thing, meaning another and worrying about the consequences of taking someone up on an offer. Stressful.
