Today is the last of the 3 day 100 degree torture upon NYC

Before this heatwave i was finally comin around to preferring summer over winter. But yeh this shit just reenforces what I always felt. I rather winter over summer at least there’s various ways to get warm.

Nothin absolutely NOTHIN can combat heat like this.

Don't know where you're at but around here they give advice on how to not freeze to death from the weather when that time of year rolls around.

I'm in VA. They may say bundle up or some shit in Winter, but that's about it. Summer though? Lots of talk about hydration, identifying heat stroke, sunscreen, kids in cars, etc.

Spring - best
Pollen
Bugs are back
Heavy rain
People get sick
Sometimes it snows

Summer - to damn hot
Hot
Heat
Fire
Opposite of cold

Fall - 2nd best
Heavy rain
Hot to cold is confusing
Really windy, to windy
Flu season is in heavy swing
Gets dark to fast

Winter - blizzards
Cold
Chill
Frost
Opposite of hot

Not surprised. Probably homeless people freezing to death. In the summer people will give them water and they'll get relief from the sun at night, and can find shade outside during the day. In the winter there's no real escape outside.
Hypothermia does affect homeless the most but they are still the minority of total weather related deaths.

Spikes in influenza, pneumonia, fatal car accidents, slips & falls, carbon monoxide poisoning (space heaters, unventilated generators), hell even shoveling has killed people.

Lol this is wildly ignorant

Every summer there's a "heatwave" somewhere in Europe and all you hear is Europeans complaining about the heat and how they don't have air conditioning. Every June, July, and August it's the same thing.

34 Celsius breaking records in the UK. Thats a regular summer over here.

I was looking at the highlighted part and just focusing on deaths directly from the extreme weather.

I thought how not to freeze to death or having a heatstroke was common sense for most adults.. apparently not 🫣.

In the winter, ya. People just toss a quick "bundle up" your way. But plenty of people already don't drink enough water. Put em outside for a while at 90°+ and they slowly get fucked up. Especially older people... they act like they can't sit their ass still sometimes. Be 65 and outside doing yard work for hours and don't realize until they get inside they feel bad.

I've heard "I didn't realize how hot I was getting" plenty of times. Haven't heard much "I such realize how cold I was getting".
