OUT NOW Drake - ICEMAN

Added to Calendar: 05-15-26

What I notice is doing much more rapping on iceman instead of being very diverse with his tracks

You telling me "Rich Baby Daddy" is a song you'd pull out if somebody said "show me Drake at his best"?
No no no. This is the iceman thread. 41 songs just dropped. Name some that fit the "39yo around 20yo" lack of growth you're talking about not songs from 2-3 years ago.

I aint gon hold you, this is your moment. Enjoy it.

But how you got your chest all out saying this, when this nigga *just* did a remake of the cha cha slide with Sexy Red??? Im legitimately asking.

But he also is still doing way too many "why are you 39 hanging around 20 year olds" songs.

I actually disagree. I don't think that he's doing a lot of these songs. We just live in a different era where certain things get amplified more than others. Drake on a song with Sexy Red is going to be talked about, but he has 5 times as many songs that are the complete opposite.

Also, with the age thing, the point that I was making about Drake being 39 is that when it comes to hip hop, people like to bend the rules when discussing artists. If we're just keeping it to Kendrick, Drake, and Cole, they are all around teh same age and from the same era. They all have kids, but Kedrick and Cole are married. I'm not making this point to make an excuse for Drake's music, but it reminds me of real-life situations. I am 37, and I'm married with 5 kids. My niggas that have kids and aren't married and don't necessarily live the same lifestyle as me, also tend to have a bit more open ear for music than I do. One of my best friends listens to NBA Youngboy. He also knows that I don't really fuck with that wave of music. We're also best friends and teh same age, but we're not really at the same place in life.

I feel like when people talk about Drake's age and his music, they are forgetting that the world is bigger than our bubble. In the hip hop bubble, Drake, Kendrick, and Cole can all exist together and serve different flavors, as there are different lifestyles that people live, and people are just in different places. I just think that it's weird that Drake is seemingly the only rapper who gets punished for things that other rappers don't. Some of my niggas my age are definitely the date girls n their 20s type of niggas, and I'm not saying that Drake is making music specifically for them. I'm just saying that it's weird hearing people say that he needs to grow when there are a lot....of people his age who fit into the demographic and lifestyle of his music.

I mean, Drake is KD's favorite rapper, and Kendrick is LeBron's. Look at all four of their lifestyles and tell me how that doesn't make perfect sense lolololololololololol

I get that people's lifestyles will be reflected in the music. And fans also have a right to say they don't want to hear but so much failed relationships and paranoia talk from a nigga pushing 40 who has has the same issues since he was 25. At some point that perspective gotta shift or you end up stagnant. I enjoy all 3 between Cole, Kendrick and Drake and also jave my gripes with all 3 as well. And yeah there are people who fit the demo for his music that are his same age. And often those same people get called too old to be in the club, washed, immature etc. And being married and having kids isn't a prerequisite to maturity. Drake can talk about shit without that as a foundation.

I’m seeing the Stan’s online saying the other are the lost tapes he put out simply to get out of his contract

Can’t wait to see the debate unfold
I dont know enough about his contract to say. From what I understood iceman was the last one. But if umg was trying to say $$$4U and her loss didn't count then it would make sense.

I think he does talk about other shit. His haters never amplify that, though. They pretty much use the same tropes, which is why I called his critiques lazy.
