The way he spoke about it, she values the dancing more because she had to work harder at it. Also, it's not always a bad thing to just enjoy a talent and not try to monetize it

Yeah I get that and agree, but imagine if Jay-Z felt that way about rapping? I tell my kids all the time that the most successful people marry their talent with work ethic. Not to say they can’t be successful otherwise, but the ceiling is much higher with the former.
 
I enjoyed this interview. his answers gave insight on who he is as a person and how he views the world, which of course guides his decisions (especially the controversial ones)

I gave a side eye at some of his comments, but I don’t have to agree with everything he says. as a fan i’m just here for music

I agree...but if you got more than 1 talent then you have the option to pick and choose. Also add in the difference in circumstances. Jay had to rap...his daughter doesn't. That feeling of having no other options factored into Jay taking rap seriously.
