COMMUNITY Do You Talk To Your Neighbors?

Do you talk to your neighbors? Are you friends? Do you hangout or invite eachother to events? Are you ever at odds? Do you keep to yourself completely? Are your kids cool?

I typically don't talk to any of mine on my floor. Possibly a good morning or have a good night. Im very cool with a lady and her husband that live on the 6th floor. Always have a conversation when I see one or both of them.

I used to stop and chat with two old ladies that would come sit on their walkers at the lobby entrance but they died one after the other a little before or during covid. They were sisters.

Couldn't stand one chick that used to live down the hall. Always had the floor stinking of weed. She was a dog sitter and either selling weed or pussy on the side cause BARE MANS were coming in and out of there hotting up the place and those dogs were unpredictable af and nuff times there was piss in front of the elevator. Pretty sure she jammed me for a couple Amazon packages too. Got into it with her one time after she drunkenly knocked at my door clearly confused about where loud music was coming from and thought about poisoning one of her dogs but since she was a dog sitter as well as a dog owner that was too much of a Russian roulette kill mission for me and I have since calmed myself. She moved out but I think she sub leases cause I see her coming out the crib every once in a while.

Anyway. Whats going on with you and your neighbors?

Alot of my immediate neighbors are family so yeah. Even tho theres an occasional dust-up with my aunt for encroaching with plants n shit on the back porch that I rarely use. FOH.

My downstairs neighbor cool as fuck. They bring up food sometimes and we chop it up weekly.

Across the way we cordial with the neighbors. They coo but I wouldnt say we close like that. If we had any issues I think they would have our backs and vice versa.

coo with the neighborhood parents and they kids all for the most part got manners. we chill round these parts and errbody speaks. Common courtesy 🤷🏽‍♂️

One neighbor tried to test when I was putting a boundary wall up talkin bout his deed said he could walk through my fuckin yard to get to his place. I told him either show that shit by monday or the wall going up. The wall went up cuz he was bluffin and its been peace ever since lol

Out of every person in the world, Elvis Pressley's cousin was my neighbor when I was growing up lol, but he cool tho. He still my parents' neighbor. He remind me of Al Bundy when he start talking about his football career from high school. He got connects throughout the southeast of the state. Every time that fool post something, he always call me to tell me to hit a like on his post 🤦‍♂️

My current neighbors I'm cool with them. Whenever I see them outside, I'll talk with them. People are super friendly down here, so you won't have any other choice but to engage with them.

So my grandfather bought our house in the early 1960's. His wife just died, he had her two older children, and his 4 children with his deceased wife.

On top of that, he went down south to bring up a new wife (different times) and she came with two children and a mother he had to bring up

So if you keep count. That's 12 people. He needed a bigger house. After he passed and a whole lotta drama, my mother flat out bought the house from her siblings. And a few years ago passed it along to me.

We were the 3rd or 4th black family in this community. It's 100% hood now.... But it's a very old neighborhood. A lotta the families that owned their houses in the 70's 80's and 90's are still here... Many have left.. But all the families that are still here from back in the day know me and my entire family.

So my neighborhood is kinda like an extended family. Even thought I keep my nose clean, I'm very in the know of everything that goes on around here. It's just something that's just always been a part of my life.

During the snow storm, my son and I dug out a lotta cars..... And he actually ended up getting paid over $200 from various neighbors. We're just an old community. We watch each other's houses. We'll hold each other's mail and packages when one goes outta town.

Back in the day, like 4 neighbors had a key to our house, now it's only one
.. But it's still close around here. Always has been.

My son is allowed to roam freely with no worries of someone messing with him cuz he's universally recognized as my son. The schools recognize the last name.

Like it's a real community. I love it

Neighbor immediately to my right, 3 across the street, a few up the street near the entrance to the subdivision

I've had frequent convos with them, everyone else gets a horn honk

My question to y'all is, the subdivision immediately behind my house has a dude that has this non bearing tree. It was practically a weed that grew into a tree or a small ass branch that was left over when the land was cleared. Anyway, it's grown pretty tall and extends over into my yard

He doesn't do shit to that tree but the leaves and shit falling into my yard. Am I an asshole if I just start hacking at that bitch?

You should probably have a conversation first. He might not give af about that tree but may take issue hacking it since its his property. Is it that deep tho? You're that bothered?

To truly get rid of it, you have to de-root it..... Which is gonna tear up both y'all yards. Hacking at it will do nothing. It's going to grow back.

Talk to bro

It's kinda crazy. The idea of having neighbors that I'm cool with appeals to me, but I don't have any desire to build those relationships. I got a couple fine female neighbors I would have talked to if I wasn't married though.

it seemed like fair game at the time. The wall was already there, the trees were just in the way of the extension. I did try to reach out to dude prior to doing it cuz I was cool with his sister but he never responded. Dah well. Theres another tree I got my eye on for extraction soon tho lol ill try again

You have an interesting choice in words lol

If this makes me bothered that he don't care enough to either prune or cut that pos "tree" down to where it doesn't inconvenience me then I'll be that

Right before his house was built, I had a big ass tree that went over into that lot. I know what a tree can do to a home during a storm so I paid for the shit to get removed. No one had to ask me to do it, but it's either pay a few hundred today to cut it or try to fight the insurance company when it eventually snapped and landed into his living room and pay thousands.

The leaves and shit are falling into my yard causing me extra work and I believe the property law that is universally practiced is my property line extends vertical all the way to the sky so by law, I do not have to ask for their permission or ask how they feel about it. I am however trying to be somewhat considerate. I've never had an exchange with this dude in the, x amount of years he's lived behind me and tbh, I don't think he even gives a fuck about it as evidenced by his lack of action to prune it. This weed has gotten bigger over time. I remember it was at a point where he could've just pulled the shit out the ground but while it's on his lot, it's not part of his grass if that makes sense

It's a weed. Not an actual tree. It sits in this weird ass spot along the fence line
