I took my middle daughter around to the wealthy areas out here and the very first thing she pointed out was that all she saw was "regular" American cars and Toyotas.

Went to one of the upper-middle class/nouveau riche spots and that's where we saw plenty of Lexus, Mercedes, BMW's, Range Rovers, etc.

One spot we lived at in Phoenix the wife left her keys in the ignition 'cause she came in the house through the garage door. Couldn't find the keys the next morning. I went out to the car and all the doors were unlocked and they keys were still in the ignition. Nothing was taken at all. Few years later and we're living in a neighborhood up in the mountains in Goodyear (west of PHX), I left the garage door open one night. We get a knock on the front door late as shit, and it was the neighbor lady next door on the cul-de-sac. She had just happened to look out her window and saw the garage was still open so she came to let us know. Her concern wasn't that someone would steal anything, it was that coyotes, bobcats, or the odd mountain lion would get in there and start tearing shit up.

When the issue ain't theft but random wild animals up in your garage, you ain't in the hood.
