OUT NOW Nas & DJ Premier - Light-Years

Added to Calendar: 12-12-25

This is interesting! 21 savage not too long ago called Nas irrelevant ??

They both dropped albums on Friday. What does it mean if Nas sell more records and chart higher than 21 ??

With Nas and his run with Hit Boy! (Which was incredible by the way) to the “Legend has it” album series (Raekwon, Ghostface, Slick Rick, Big L, De La Soul, Mobb Deep), leading up to Nas releasing a full length album with DJ Premier to complete the series! And keep in mind, this Light Years album has no R & B features, no songs aimed at being radio friendly or radio successful, and only one guest appearance (AZ)!

If Nas outsells/chart higher than 21 Savage, it’s official we’re experiencing a culture shift….

I listened to the album this morning and thought it was dope... Its a hip hop lovers album, could see why casual or younger fans on Twitter might not been overly hyped on it but I loved the 'hat tilts' and homage to classic songs and artists, Premo's cuts were mostly from proper old skool tunes...

The only song I wanted to skip was 'Welcome to the Underground', the tune with AZ was abit of let down too but it was OK...

This is my theory DJ Premier’s sound became so much of what the underground or hardcore sound sounded like that when you hear it now from him, it doesn’t seem as amazing to some ppl as it used to be because every Producer with an MPC copied DJ Premier

Nah Premo dont what ALC has also done, switched his style up to try evolve and stay relevant and for me personally ruined his signature style... For a while Im pretty sure he even got rid of his cuts, like ALC got rid of his drums... Even on this project the beats are like a diet version of classic Premo...

Yea, this shits NASIR level trash

Also wanna add I really liked 'NY State of Mind 3' and liked the way they used the actual song from Billy Joel at the start but bringing it back for every chorus was unnecessary imo and kinda threw the beat off...

'Nasty, Esco and Nasir' was a dope concept too...

Today's youth don't use iTunes
21 Savage is in his prime with his fans and as it looks in America right now, 21 will obviously sell a lot more than Nas.

21 also signed to major label

21 probably gonna sell 80-120k

while Nas? 15-20k max
