OUT NOW Nas & DJ Premier - Light-Years

Added to Calendar: 12-12-25

I agree with most of this but them Hit boy projects are instant classic material mostly
Enh…I didn’t like’em like that…

When they 1st dropped I was hype of tha fact I thought an inspired Nas was bout to be rappin’ over some super heat….then they drooped and a lot of it sounded more like an uninspired AI Nas rhymin’ over some fake new age shit and as time went on I found myself goin’ back to them less and less…but I’m not hatin’ on anybody who liked them shits…they just weren’t for me 🤷🏽‍♂️

But THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE NIGGA lol…I like this waaay better…just my opinion tho

I honestly think the love and respect for Preemo has some people absolutely refusing to admit the harsh truth about his production these last few years. Call it legacy halo, hero worship, stanning bias… pick your poison.

But just admitting he’s officially washed is like telling a toddler Santa Claus isn’t real or that the Easter Bunny filed for bankruptcy! It’s too emotionally devastating. The denial is so strong, you’d think accepting the end of an era might actually cause people to black out.
SMH

I listened to this album… again. And I still come away thinking: are people actually being honest with themselves when they say this is a masterpiece full of bangers? Really? They’re out here claiming this production...stale, cheap, basic, simple Simon karaoke-level beats... are better than Hit-Boy’s layered, complex, soulful production he’s done for Nas.

HOW.
HOW IS THIS BETTER???

The beats was good about minus 4 duds of course the bars are all top tier but that's about it. This album was overly wanted and hyped from the hiphop head community that no matter what Preemo produced it was going to be dissected to death.

I gave it a few run backs and for me it's a solid 3.5-4 out of 5.

With that said if it was a Old Man Cain executive produced Nas album I would've brought back all the Illmatic producers and let them work their magic just off the nostalgia alone I believe the fans would've went crazy

This is exactly how I feel. I think KD3 is the best out of the bunch but ultimately…I prefer Nas’s other shit compared to the entire series of albums that him and Hit did. They’re cool but…they ain’t THAT. I’m mainly inspired by how Nas did it and how ageless he sounded. But after that? It’s back to the old albums for me.

Again, what do I know. I enjoy the Nasir album.

On honest first listen, I gave it a 7/10.

Nah amazing by any means, but not a dud. Primo's beats were too slow and energizing. Nas's rapping is still superior, but Primo seemingly didn't hold up his end of the bargin.

Oh shit, Nas rapping over wack beats is back on the table? I didn't have that on my 2025 bingo card, and from Preemo no less wtf

lyrics is fire but the beats is water

Yall going easy on Nas, some songs it sounded like he was reading off his phone. Shit wasn't flowing as smoothly as his shit with Hitboy
