The Official Sneakerhead Thread 👟

These folks just killed sneaker culture just out of greed. I remember back in the day when I was a little kid, my father told my mother, he’s not gonna firmly invest in us getting the kind of sneakers that we want until we tell him that we want it. Then we started getting Jordans and all the other cool sneakers that we wanted. I understood that growing up, a lot of kids didn’t get the opportunity to wear the sneakers that they wanted, and they always had that in their mind. Remember, people are getting bodied, beaten up, robbed and hurt because you might’ve had on a pair of sneakers that they wanted and they didn’t want you to have it. So once those kids grew up, they wanted to double back and got all those sneakers to try to make up for lost time. The resellers killed it because in the end, I don’t wanna pay $800 for $150 pair of sneakers, that cost $.10 to make. Nor do I want to enter into a raffle to be able to get the sneaker. Nor do I wanna wait in line all day. So I got enough Jordans that I want. It’ll be cool to replace them here and there, but I pretty much have the ones I want.

Partly because they can't afford a closet full of $400+ sneakers. Plus they've never really got to experience sneaker culture in same way we did.

Yeah true, sneakers continuously going up and up in price, especially with the way the economy is now was bound to burst eventually... Also like @Goldie said, we kinda the last generations to get heavy 90s nostalgia too... Youngsters dont care about Jordan and those athletes the way we did/do...

Celebs seem to go for more clean/plain fashion looks now, which must play a hand too...

lol tell me the newest original pair of Jordans sneakerheads have cared for

I wanna see something
Sneakerheads only acknowledge Jordan retros 1-14. The rest of that shit falls in the "team Jordan" category.

The point you're making is a separate discussion. Basketball/football sneakers been ass since 2001. It's like niggas forgot how to cook up dope sneakers after the 90s. I'll eat at Applebees before i wear some Stephs, PGs, Durants, etc. Bron got a couple decent kicks.

Nah, most people don't even get a chance to have them. For the past 10 plus years resellers been buying them all within the first 20 secs of release and then selling em for double. Jordan's been doing mad collabs with Travis Scott, Nigel, etc to keep shit "fresh".

I still cop Jordans here and there, but I've been mainly copping the other classics from the 90s that Nike is finally letting out of the vault.

They're bringing back the Deion DT2's next year

They rereleased em about 15 years ago but Deion wasn't fuckin with Nike at the time so they replaced the original logos and made some other small changes. This will be the first rerelease of how it originally looked in 94.

Man they need to let everything go out

Yep resellers killed the game and made trying to cop most releases a nightmare between that and the overall increases in price made it less and less appealing. Doesn’t help that their’s a release every week also. Don’t blame rereleases because most wanted the option to get what they might have not had a opportunity in the past, or their old pair seen better days. Back in the early 2000s when I started really collecting once I had a job man shit would shit on the shelfs at least for a few weeks so you had time to put money aside then get them… now up until recently unless you got them right then and there your at the mercy of resellers and their BS pricing… fuck all that. The greed killed a lot of this hobby for most people.

The youngins wearing crocs now with all those badges on em anyways and not one of them are nurses 🫣 times have changed.

I explicitly recall walking into a mom and pop and buying a new pair of Bo Jacksons for 30 bucks before. (All i could afford at that moment lol) this was when everyone wanted 50 af1s in different colors, so most shoes that weren't those just sat there. Same with some all black af1s with a white check years before. Etc etc

In retrospect, you could damn near treat sneaker shopping like crate digging. If you werent into chasing the hottest trends, you could eat for cheap

Hell, id say it was dead when those random ass gymshoes from the 90s started cost 150-200+ for no justifiable reason. With inferior materials to on top of that. Those aren't conditions to herald

The former era sounds more viable to me. Hell we still had boosters running around . This ain't hollow nostalgia... the options were bountiful and there was a greater level of competition .
