FEATURED Benny The Butcher: The Streets No Longer Run Hip-Hop, The Nerds Do

test
It's a generational thing.... And a lotta people upper 30's and 40's just don't understand or accept they're aging out.

What was "cool" in 1995 looks different in 2005, 2015, 2025... And so on...

There's ways to stay relevant, just know you're not the target audience and find your land respectfully.

It's certain shit me and my son both listen to and there's plenty of shit that only one of us listens to. And i respect and acknowledge that gap

Also niggas is better business men now. The game was stupid back in the day...i heard Mase and Cam laughing one day cuz Mase son was like the industry needs to go back to jerking niggas, pause. Niggaz made better music when they were broke and hungry.

And as hilarious as that shit is. He's not completely wrong. When niggas really had one foot in the streets and the other in the industry, and they had to rap to get out the hood... Yeah the music was way more hungry. But it's evolved. A lotta these aren't rapping to get out the hood, they just be playing with the shit... Catch fire, and come into the game with an established following already.

Everything changes, nothing stays the same.

He's saying the voice of the streets don't hold the game.... The game is evolving. It's not that streets let go ... The game changed. There's still a lane for his music, it's just not front and center like it would have been had he broke in the 90's

Okay I get what you’re saying but aren’t you assuming he’s speaking on his type of music being front and center?

Idk for sure if that’s what he’s saying

If i had to guess he's prolly bitter on some

"If we had came out in 1998, we'd be the biggest act in the game"

And while i don't necessarily disagree, i do think that the sentiment that the have is ran by nerds is kinda corny. Just like it was corny when Jim Jones used to hate on Kanye and back pick rappers....

The game has gotten smarter, it has changed as a whole... But i don't think that's necessary a bad thing. Cuz guys like Dave East, Tee grizzley, YB NBA still gotta lane and a fan base.... But it's not a bad thing guys like Drake, Tyler, Rod Wave are in the game... It shows how wide the shit stretches.. Everything ain't gotta be for street niggas
